Been needing to buy a good spotting scope to help give me a little more of an edge when hunting the high country for elk and mule deer. When it comes to certain things I've always went with the buy once cry once motto. Good qualilty optics is one of them things. If you had two grand to spend on a spotting scope which would it be?

Thanks,
Luke

If I had $2,000 to spend, I would buy a Pentax 80mm ED with the 20x60 eyepiece and but a nice rifle with the left over $1,000.

If I was forced to spend the whole $2,000, I would buy the Pentax 100mm ED.

.

I came to the same decision and bought a new Leupold Kenai. It comes with a varible lens that goes out to 60x power and a fixed 30x wide angle. The 60x sees 22 cal bullet holes including the ones in the black at 200yds. The 30x wide made it easy to search a hill side with even leaves in great detail. Regards

I was going to say a Razor HD, and for the price its good, but the swaro HD was better when I used them both to spot 1200yd shots, if you can get your hands on a used swaro HD, do it.
