They are thick in the desert, mountains, valley, and coast.

There are also a lot of flat ones on the sides of the road. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Nevada is pretty good too.

I keep hearing that CA is great for yotes. But damn, where the hell are they? I've been out a couple of few tiomes now and the only ones I have seen were bolting across the road. None called in yet. Only foxes. Called in 3 foxes last weekend but not one yote.

Ok while I suppose this isn’t fair since I’m recommending a province rather then a state, I thought I would put my 2 cents in. I nominate Saskatchewan as the best place to hunt coyotes. Why? We have almost no coyote hunters around here. In fact I have never EVER seen anyone but myself and hunting partner calling. I’m sure there are some people out here, just I haven’t seen them. Basically, if I haven’t called a place there is an almost certainty that it is virgin territory. We have arguably the best furs in the world, and plenty of coyotes. There are some problems with hunting here, however. In certain areas of the province one has to drive an hour or more to find a decent place to hunt. It’s just wheat fields as far as the eye can see. But for the most part there are endless areas here in which to hunt. Honestly, I can RIDE MY BIKE from the biggest city in the province and be hunting exceptional land within an hours pedal.

Craig, am I reading the info correctly? You registered in Nov 2002 and this is your first post? If so Welcome to the board. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I asked in another thread where in Canada you hail from, now I see it's Sask. Which part? Good to have you here. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Having lived both out west, and now in northern Wisconsin the last few years. I have noticed that the coyotes West of the Mississippi are alot easier to fool which might have some to do with it. I dont know if its more competition for the food out there or what.

as for shear numbers I think the further you go south the more coyotes there are, but i think they get hunted more.
