Best varmint scope for under $350.00

I purchased a Sightron SG-1 for a CZ527 Varmint in .223 a while back. I think it was 129.00 and it seems to have optics comparable to my leupolds and redfields. It got a pretty good workout this summer bouncing around of the 4 wheeler shooting gophers. Dropped a time or two and held it's point of aim just fine. The Sightron warranty is just about better than any other scope manf. around right now. If you have a problem with one of their scopes you can take it to a authorized dealer and they will give you a new one. There is no sending the scope back and waiting for months to get it back. I'll buy another one.

Some bad news here....Leupold uses' asian glass in all their optics. The bodies are made here in the state's, not the glass, and the Wind River line is made 100% overseas. Nikon optics are some of the best, but some Benchrest friends of mine say the adjustments are not repeatable, good enough for me. But are they good enough for hunting? Hell yes! I have some of their optics, and am impressed. If I was to purchase an affordable scope, it would be either a Nikon, or a Bushnell Elite. Both very good for the money. Will I sell any of my Luppy's? Nope, so don't even ask. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Now, as bill1227 said, is a scope better than iron sights? I won't argue this point, but too much power in the "lowlight" conditions, or at longer ranges on bright days with heavy mirage, you have to turn the power down to see more clearly. Try it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Good luck with any choice.
