Best way to set up a rifle rest for the chair...

I have a spotlight rack, but no rest for the swivel chairs. The chairs are the standard boat type with the 4 screw swivel base that bolts to a pedestal type base. Anyone have pictures of something like this?

This is the type base I have. The seat bolts right to it, and the peg fits into a hole in the other base that is bolted to the rack. (both are shown upside down)

I don't know if this is an answer, go on Boatus.com and hit up seats and posts and they have a selection of boating chairs and pedastooles for your Hunting seat.

Carefull some of these seats are so cozy....you will fall asleep before you get your first shot off...................Rick

I've got arm rests similar to that, but no rifle rest. I will try to take some pictures tomorrow and post. I am just trying to figure out the best/easiest way to make the rest. My rack is a two chair set up, and someone else can be holding the light.

Dont know if this is what your after but Im gonna fire away. Take some pipe and weld it to you pedestal base and come out between your legs. Take a short piece of the same pipe and weld it perpindicular on the end to whatever angle you like then run some cold rolled through it. Finally weld a piece of pipe for the actual rest at the top.

At the bottom where the cold rolled goes through the piece of pipe, drill a hole through the side and weld a nut, and add a bolt to adjust its height.

Thats how mine is setup and works great. Will yours swivel or sit stationary?

Bob, that chair set up sure looks clean and comfy.....I'd probably fall asleep in it. I've seriously seen that happen. Had a guy up in the chair this past weekend. The light stopped and I thought he had spotted some glowing eyes.....after I looked around and couldn't see anything, I looked up to ask him what he was looking at and he had nodded off to sleep. We were both laughing about it after he woke up and we both got back in the truck.

That chair design you have reminds me of Neffquails from a few years back. You know him?

Take care and God Bless,

Rusty

You could weld some 1" all around the 2 seats as long as you could still turn in the seats, that is how I have mine...It allows for a lot of free movement. You just need to put some of that black insulation foam over it and you are set. Oh also I would make it adjustable by drilling holes for different settings and slide a bolt through to hold it. I made it for me, and When I take my short brother and dad, they can't get "just right" to shoot.
