Ok Its all bull!The bear was no were that big it was moore
like 8feet,it wasnt charging,he shot it as a target of opertunity.its a cyber legend. The young man is in the airforce not the forest service and if you look at the pics they have been altered.Its not a world record its not going to be displayed in the airport.Nuf said

I am glad that you are here to be the end all on what goes on in the internet. Nuf said? pretty rude in my opinion! I did do so serching around as well and found that the pictures are real but the story was embellished. The size has been said to be from 14 - 10feet six inches depending on who you want to believe. Either way it was a very big bear!

OOOO sorry I wasnt trying to be rude just stating the facts!Also the bear in question was shot 4years ago,This myth has been floating around a long time The pics are altered if you look at the bottom pic you can see how its stretched horizontal.The top pic the young man is about 5 feet to the rear of the bear,common practice for bear hero shots.Trust me I know what im talking about here.I spend a lot of time in the bush and a lot of time hunting and observing bears.
This spring while bear hunting with my 11 year old daughter
I shot 45 min of video of a boar and sow mating that is a rarely seen phenomenon.The entire story on that bear was made up and meant to be a joke on unsuspecting outsiders.IE non Alaskans.

This reminds me of a story a few years back about a cougar that was shot locally and wound up tieded for number 7 all time in Boone and Crocket. Buy the time it was all over the web that cougar had probably been shot in about 30 States.

This one is real.Killed this year by my friend on kodiak island,And it is a boon and crocket.I can prove it.

Yeah that first one has been around a few times, each time a different story. The second one is nice as is the first one. But when you see the same old pic a couple times with a different story, you just dismiss it and move on.
