Not the biggest Elk, but the first one with my father. He's never big game hunted with me and i took him along for the first time in the 8 years i have been doing it. We got this elk, it was great, we called it in, nice and close, and were done and eating lunch at a dinner by lunch time on opening day.
I have another Any Elk tag for 6B (outside of Flagstaff) this year, and my oldest daughter is really excited to go with me this time. I haven't decided if i am going to take her, or not, but we shall see. I just don't want to push it to fast, and then ruin it for the years to come.
Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Yep I had a blast up in the NT. Got to hunt a lot with the traditional owners of a vast expanse of land teeming with game. I'd never have had the chance to hunt Buff if it wasn't for them. The price tag outfitters here put on the is beyond stupid.
I did most of my Buff hunting with just a bog stock as issued Number 1 MkIII Lee Enfield. I used 215gn Woodleigh projectiles and I never had one run more than 10m from the shot. Shot placement is the key just like anything. I was told I was WAY undergunned, just thankful no one told the buff!
Wild Ox (local favourite food!)
How the local guys go hunting!
Me following up a Buff my mate hit a bit far back.
Hey, Richo, that's some pretty country down there. Thanks for the peek at how it's done on the other side of the world. Don't believe you could get one more person on that 4x4.

LOL well after I shot the wild ox it was quartered and then thrown up into the roof rack of that 4x4. The guys then perched on top of that! That's grocery shopping Jawoyn (pronounced Jar-win) style! One trip we shot 6 wild ox out of one herd filled my truck and the roofrack of his. Fed the entire village. I was pretty popular that day lol. I count my blessings having not only hunted NT Buff but getting to do it with these guys was truly something special.
I realize this is not as big as some of the trophies I have seen on here it has special meaning for me. This one was taken back in 2012. 10 days prior I lost my 17 year old son in a auto accident. I had taken time of from work and was dealing with the grief(still am to this day). When I started the hunt I said a short prayer and put out the fleece by asking God to send me a good size deer as comfirmation that my son was in heaven with Him. About 30 minutes before dark I kept hearing some rustling back in the woods. This guy showed up about 40 yards out. The shot was at a severe downward angle due to the 18 ft stand I was in that was on top of a hill. The 120 grain nosler bt fired from my son's custom mauser chambered in 6.5 Rem. Mag. entered just above the shoulder went down through the heart and dropped him where he stood. Biggest buck I have ever shot as I am not much of a trophy hunter and will drop a doe before a buck. This was a bittersweet hunt I will never forget.
Welcome to Predator Masters lovesmausers. I'm very sorry to hear of the loss of your son. Very belated condolences. That's sure a good enough "memory buck" in his honor.
Not my proudest trophy but certainly the most memorable, pig hunt down in seriously backwoods OK. I actually bought the deliverence soundtrack to listen to as we drove around. 'cuz I think I'm funny.
After working a HARD week for 1 pig, in an area that is supposedly overrun with them, the land owner came out to check on us. Seeing the 1 sow we had he started making jokes about how pretty a pig it is, good enough for sex etc. 1 joke, fine we're guys. 2 jokes, no biggie we're messing around anyway. 10 minutes of them later... would you like us to leave you alone? And you can keep the pig at this point, I'm officially getting creeped out
