Mirage is something that takes years and a few good books on it, to come to terms with. Most long range matches are started very early in the morning to minimize the mirage. In the mean time I just pray the wind is blowing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I never got too much from the books regarding mirage but shot cross the course HP for many years. Can't say it didn't give me problems but managed pretty well with iron sights. Only got to shoot 1000 yards three times and admit mirage ate my lunch, especially beyond 900 yards. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif Never tried scope beyond 600.
I just never was able use the 20x scope due to mirage the few times I tried it @ 600. Gave up and went back to irons as the target still looks round with them /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif.
It's all academic now since arthritis won't allow me to shoot prone any longer, but wondering what power setting you use when mirage is heavy?
Regards,
hm
