Black coyote mount

I got the shoulder mount of a black coyote back this week. A buddy shot it while we were calling last fall. He made a low shot which tore him up pretty bad then I trailed him for a 150 yards through the woods and shot him again so the taxidermist recommended a shoulder mount.I wanted to post a picture before I took it to him.

Awesome!!! I've only seen 2. One while bird hunting and the other while calling. Shot the first dog (regular) then the black came in and only caught a glimpse as he hauled butt outta there. Both in kansas

Turned out great! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That ought to entertain the kids that come over for awhile! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Must of been Eastern Kansas? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

In 35+ yrs. of hunting coyotes, the only black one I've seen was in Okie land. Although I have seen quite a few that had really dar guard hairs. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

The guy who owns the land over in East Texas where we shot the coyote just built a new hunting lodge so it will be adorning the wall there I am sure. The good news is that there were two and the female is still there. Crapshoot was kidding about his dog but the funny part of the story is that the guy that I took hunting that morning had never hunted coyotes before and as we snuck over a pond dam to overlook this big bottomland field he said " well dangit we might as well go sombody's dogs are out there in the cows". I took one look and said git down that's coyotes. We called both up along with one regular colored one but only got one. I had a risky shot at the black female but thought maybe he would get a better shot but he never even saw her or the regular colored one.

One was around Kanopolis and the other was near Sedan.

Very nice. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
Getting a black one sure would be something special. Never herd of one seen or killed in my neck of the woods.
