BLACK COYOTES

Called in one at the LBL....No shot. Also called a solid white one there to.

Called two here in Ohio, no shots at either of them.

Brent

Rich, I have been tring to get one called in here for the past few years, Brent remember where you shot the shot gun coyote when you where here. This area in stuck between a sub-division and a big apartment complex. This Black coyote has been running this area and to date no one has gotten close to getting him. I did see him here at the firehouse on two occurances but eye color is unknown, he is a 30 lbs'er or so and has two white paws, the rest is solid black.

A friend of mine shot a young black female and got a full mount done, If you would like a pic let me know and I will see if I can get it along with particuals of where he called it at, I do know it was local.

We have also seen a all white coyote about 3 miles south of the area I just discibed, we have seen this coyote 4 differant mornings in the same location.

Later,

Scott

Rich, I have killed three two in this pic south of Tyler Texas. The other also came south of here also. Have seen three more on a ranch north of here but didn't manage too make contatct with them.

Rich,

I'd call this one a black grizzle or a dark phase color. It was shot south of Cedar Rapids, IA. It was a female and est weight of 30 lbs. Darkest one I've personally seen.

Tony

Tony,

The big ole boy in my hunt area. Has the same color markings as your dead female. I call that a "dirty Black" or "dusky Black". The closest I been to him, was around 60-70yrds [no permissioned land, @ the time /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif]. He's pushing 50lbs. Perhaps, this Fall/Winter.

I've spotted one and took a shot, I now own a new rifle because of that black coyote....(found out my old rifle was old military and unsafe to shoot) It was Northern lower Penninsula of Michigan. weight est. 40lbs

Rich
have seen one in 24-a near Queen Valley. left stand to pick up caller because of bird hunters looked back to see him behind my set up with me staring at my rifle next to him.Looked avg size.smooth move by a rookie.

Saw a black one In March 06, while driving home from town it was laying in some grass looked to be eating something. Stopped the truck looked for a full 2 mins or more, it kept on eating. I'm in s.e. oklahoma

One winter in the late 80's a black coyote lived on the north end of town near Vernon, British Columbia. I saw him several times, and all of the local coyote hunters knew about him. He was in a no shooting area, usually mousing in fields near a shopping mall. He was a black charcoal rather than shiny blue black like a black bear. Looked average in size and build.

I called in a pair 2 or 3 years ago and got both. One of them was a black male, I dont have a digital pic of them to post... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I have another one that lives near here. I have called him in a couple of times while I was out playing in the dark with the calls and spotlight. Havent tried hunting him as he is on the edge of the city limits. I'm satisfied to just see him once in a while. I set out a tree cam last Christmas and got several pics of him and some regular ones too.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This one is from Ross county Ohio. Female about 35# more of a dark dark grey with black down the back ,white spot on chest and tip of tail. You can definitely tell the difference between the two.
