I haved saved some 223 brass from Black Hills ammo remanufactured.The brass they use is military according to their web site. In the reloading book it says if you want to relaod military brass you have to swag or ream the primer pocket to remove the crimp.

Would that already be done by Black hills ammo and you wouldn't have to do that again.

Or would you have to do that every time you reload.

I am sure that Black Hills is presently using commercial primers in its remanufacturered ammo. Since military ammo is made to work in full auto weapons, the original primers are different. I don't think you will have any problems reloading the Black Hills ammo cases.
 
Black Hills ammo uses new brass in their new ammo manufacture. The head stamp is BHA. I have reloaded this case many times. No problem there.
For their remanufatured ammo (reloads/ blue box) They use Lake City brass(or at least they use to). Also good brass. Shouldnt have any problems.
 
The Remanufactured ammo by Black Hills is military brass, they only use their own head-stamp is on their "new", Red Box ammo.

The Blue Box military headstamp is already "de-miled" in other words the military crimp has been removed and it is ready to reload just like any other brass.

The military brass is heavier than most comercial brass so don't start off too high, you could have some pressure issues.
 
black hills reman ammo is loaded with lake city brass. the headstamp will read LC and then the yr. like LC 98 means the brass was made in 98. it is good brass and comparable to win brass. it is thin and not heavy and you should have no problems.
 
I have found the mil 223 brass to be about the same as commercial 223 brass. It is real simple, just weigh it. If it is thicker, it will weigh more.

No rocket science needed and you don't have to guess or trust BBS posts.

Jack, I was only giving him the same "boiler plate" warning that all of the reloading manuals will regarding the use of military brass. Besides, in order for him to compare the military brass to commercial brass......he would have to have some commercial brass to compare it to. Sorry if you thought that was just bbs BS.

The only factory brass that I have found to be heavier is the Federal brass. It is consistantly heavier than any of the military brass I have checked.
