Blackbacked Jackal & Foxpro

Well guys, I am on the ranch, and have been trying too copy photos over, but the internet connection here is too slow

BUTTTTTTTTTTTT

One jackal dead in 20 minutes after the first stand, and a BROWN HEYENA CAME HAULING [beeep] INTO THE CALL

So , the camo worked, the Foxpro worked, the lights were a bit sh@#$#$ , but will sort that out, I think I need a tube over the light for the glare

But my golly that was exciting , cannot wait for tommorow , gonna call in daytime !!!!!!

Congrats buddy, that's great! You're right about putting a shroud around the light. It will focus that beam out in front of you and cast less of your own shadow. A piece of plastic cut from a soda bottle or jug of milk works well. Then just tape in on. Keep us posted. Tom Austin

Walter,

Tom is right about putting a shroud over the light. The guys in Namibia used paper wrapped around the light that extended several inches out. Worked great.

Happy to hear of your success, and the hyena sounds really exciting. I'd love to get one of those critters, as ugly and smelly as they are.

I'm also anxious to hear how the daytime calling goes.

David

Thanks Tom, 6mm06

Ok I think I have the photos sorted

I changed the load on the 25-06. I thought the 95gr Berger would be less damaging !!

Big mistake, it walloped this jackal , and my jackal fur coat still needs some skins

That is great Walter, keep us updated.

The truck camo looks good, it really makes the truck disappear. I heard of a way to make 3D camo some years ago and heard that it works pretty well. I can't remember exactly where I heard this but try to get a couple of old, second hand fake Christmas trees and attach (tie with cord or zip ties) pieces of them to the canvas or even to your truck. I haven't done this as of yet, but it seems like it has potential.

Right, but the word you used to say "female" carries a different meaning here in the states than it does on your side of the pond. Besides, its Hillary Clintons nickname. We can't allow any talk about her. LOL!

I was fortunate to shoot two jackals with my bow when I went to RSA last year. Oh how I felt knowing after the fact that there were tons of opportunities to hunt them! I would have brought my calls and everything and spent a couple of days calling them. I lip squeaked both jackals in from two hundred yards to within twenty. I have no experience with them just thought it was SO COOL! Sorry for the lack of help.

One dog down with day calling !!!

Man this can get addictive

Now, if only I can get one gentlemen with heaps of predator calling exp too come and hunt, so that I can get taught all the tricks that takes years too learn

Nice going Walter. Great job with the camo, including the camo you are wearing. Keep after it and you'll be a dedicated jackal hunter soon. Sorry to hear about your fur coat. Better luck next time.

Enjoyed the photos and looking forward to more.

Nice photo Walter. Those silencers on the rifles are great, aren't they? We aren't used to that here in the US, but my experience with them in Namibia was great. Shots were quiet and it even helped tame the recoil of the 308 Win.

Yes the si;encers works like a charm

For me it saves my ears, and tames a lot of recoil as well, I have one on the 338 as well , ans it is amazing what it does too that

I am still trying too convince a friend too come with too NM, then I can nag a rifle off him for the shooting
