Why are these so high priced? I really like my browning t-bolt in 22lr. I would really like a 308 version of it. Not going to happen at 5 or 6 grand. Barrels and stocks are also very high priced. Any thoughts? Thanks. Chris
Hello Chris.
I hate to give you the standard answer of "you get what you pay for", but I believe with Blaser that is correct. You are paying for the German engineering and the importation into the states. I have owned Blaser rifles since 2004 starting with the R93 and currently have an R8 with two barrels. One in .223 and one in .308. I too just love the straight pull back actions, so I also own a Browning T-bolt in .22 Mag. There are a couple Blaser forums where you can gather great information and search through the classifieds. Feel free to PM me and I can point you in the right direction if you decide to go that route.
I know a guy who has one in 308. He loves it. It's his "go to" rig. I've handled it, and dry fired it. Trigger is nice. It's not heavy, but weighs more than I thought it would. He does have a heavy scope on it, though.
One of our local gun stores stocked Blaser for several years. Pretty cool rifles. They stopped selling Blaser when the prices went nuts. Importation, exchange rate, blue sky for the name, etc.
