Blazer High Rack Build (Updated w/ pics of finished rig)

I have pretty much finished up my truck. We have been hunting out of it for a few weeks now, I finally got around to taking some pictures this morning. I need to take a pic of it set up to hunt. It has been working great a huge upgrade over my old scout. In all it takes about ten minutes to raise the rail, seats, and adjust the gun racks. Still have to work on a rear bumper make some changes to the front bumper and build a slicker kill basket...that one was a quickie cause I was tired of welding and wrenching and needed a place to put dead critters.

This is a pic of the last hunt in the Scout. She is now getting an over due trip on a trailer to the deer lease where she will spend the rest of her days as an occasional night hunter, afternoon high racker, general transportation vehicle....does she look tired or what...naaah a few spark plug extensions and she will feel much better... or what about that IH 345 V8 dad took out of his Scout??? New project??? More to come this summer

Nice truck,and CAT

Does the Expanded metal block the Lightforce Lights on top??

I like the Light switch lay-out, makes it easy to run while your resting you arm on the window sill.....

Good work..........

No the expanded metal hardly cuts down the light. It has fairly wide spacing. We checked it with a walk about before we put it on the rack... I would say 10% less light if that. Rick, I need to send you back the high mounts...I needed the height but also the offset of the low mounts. I cut some spacers out of 1/2 plate and put them under the original low mounts. Did you notice the light force sticker on the front windshield? Those 170 driving lights are awsome...We have been driving in with them only. I need another pair when I get some money, so I can adjust one set farther out and one set to see road obstacles, I am some where inbetween now. Thanks for checking it out and your help with the lights.

Nice job! I'm sorry but you boys have it way to easy compared to us northerners. Wish we could use a rig like that, just pull right into the cornfields.

Boy that is an awesome rig, I have a 89 jeep cherokee and I have been thinkning about putting some type of attatchment with chairs to hunt out of from the top. That gives me some great ideas. Very, Very nice. Thanks for sharing

Man that rig looks good. Nice job on the wiring, you are set to do some killin.. Nice cat in the scout picture.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Thanks for looking....I have been out of town for a week...sorry for not replying earlier...Sam, the Scout is a 1969 800 with a 345 and a 3 speed...by no means is the Blazer finished we still have a list of stuff to do and as allways I will update w/ pictures. I really enjoy building stuff for hunting, from duck blinds out of old boats to hunting racks, I have had a few inquiries about building racks for other members and yes I am interested and plan on building a rack that will fit in the back of a pick up... all I need to know is the inside measurement between the bedrails, the length of the bedrails, and the width of the bed rails....I think I have one to start on soon and I will post pics of it before and after. For anyone interested...we can design a custom rack, including light bar, pick up the materials, build the rack to fit the truck, have it powder coated, finish it with seats, gun racks, wire it for 12 volt outlets, wire the driving lights for the light bar, build kill baskets and bumpers. Thanks to all who have looked at the truck...more to come

Pardon the pun bro... but that truck is the CatsAss... Too bad we can't hunt from our trucks here in NY.. We waited for it to get cold here for two months now it is like 0 degrees out with average wind chills of around 15 below and snowing everyday. I dug out all the Ice fishing gear this weekend... Time to switch gears... Big "BassPro" Ice tourney next weekend..
