"Blu-ray" / HD Coyote Hunting DVD - Feedback Request

1. Do you own a Plasma / HD TV? Yes

2. Do you own a Blu-ray player? Yes

3. Will you be buying a blu-ray player to complement your HD TV any time soon? I already have one but my Panasonic DVD player upgrades movies that were shot in HD. The Blu-ray gets used 1/10 of the time.

4. Is buying a Blu-ray coyote hunting video something you are interested in. No

5. would a $39.95 Blu-ray video price cure you of any interest, or would you still look seriously at purchasing the blu-ray video. No offense intended but I have yet to see a coyote hunting video worth that price.

I have a 61" HD TV and you almost have to watch an HD format video on that size of TV for it to have decent clarity. I also have a Playstation 3 that will play blu-ray discs. I would buy any video in blu-ray format.

I don't know what Blu-ray or any of that other stuff is/means. I do know that $40 for a video is out of the question. I'd rather be doing it, than watching somebody else do it. For $40 worth of gas I can have a great day.

5. Avg price around here for a BR movie is about $25 @ Costco. $40 would cure me, $32 - $35 would leave me debating myself at the movie counter but insanity would prevail and I'd buy the movie anyway /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Who is the DVD from? South, Anderson, L-M Outdoors? I might pay $40 for a BR from those folks.

Yeah, if it was "Coyote Rage 2" and had a BluRay AND standard format version included, I'd most likely pay $40 for it.

+1 - Excellent observation!! BR disc and standard DVD would get my $40.

Sometimes I get put in the garage /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif and the BR player is in the living room. Standard player in the garage.

Based on early returns APC will strongly lobby for under $29.95 retail (this can be obtained via less margins for retailers & manufacturers and by producing and buying larger quantities of blu-ray disks). As you are aware, the very expensive camera equipment also drives the price.

As to why "blu-ray", the true HD video viewing adds a new realm of enjoyment for most - stunning, sharp, clear, vibrant colorful images definitely are interesting and engaging. Yes, it's not every ones cup of tea, but I suspect many will ultimately make the jump (including me) to Blu-ray players. Nowadays with the 1080 HD TV’s are common place and fairly inexpensive (visit your walmart lately?), the blu-ray players are dropping in price as well.. 4 - 5 years from now, the standard DVD may just be a collectors item..

As of today, I'm aware of predator hunting 3 videos being completed with HD cameras and offered in blue-ray. I’ll let the makers announce when they are ready.

Again, I think your feedback is very important to both prospective and accomplished video makers who frequent this site.

With BR what you once saw as a coyote looking at the camera, you can now see him wink at you and possibly even grin before it turns to leave.

What was once decent slo-mo of the shot will be much clearer leaving no doubt about exact shot placement.

There is a depth of field sense about well shot footage.
Expensive tripods will become a necessity. Colors will be more vibrant.

Will the videos be better? Yes if nothing more than the fact that with each new video the bar is set a little higher in respect to footage and editing. I see vedoes becoming more and more professional looking every release.

VHS to 8mm tapes to Hi8 to digital tape to hard disk to HD all have noticeable increases in picture quality. Virtually everyone is acclimated to watching DVDs. If a video came out today that was shot with one of my old 8mm cameras, it would be a huge disappointment. Anyone wanna buy an old Hi8 camcorder (with extras)? How about a 35mm film camera with extra lenses?
 
As stated above, the video should be outstanding to warrant a $40.00 price tag. (plus shipping)

While there are in fact a few Coyote Hunters that are producing quality footage, there is unfortunately many that are producing, in my opinion, absolute junk.

Maybe the high purchase price of the Blu-Ray camera will make the 'less commited' fall by the wayside.
 
We already film mostly in 1080i but dont think we would produce a blue-ray video due to the cost as of now, but soon there will be very little differance between the 2, cost wise. Then it will be cool to already have some footage

Me personally i would rather buy two well done videos than 1 blue-ray
