Blue Light For Coyotes

Yeah we have done alot of testing with that kinda stuff too. We painted ours with red dykem in about any pattern you can think of. Middle, outer edges, and such. Its hard to control what the light is going to look like after your done. Painting the outside red was a neat feature, you end up with an intense beam on the inside with a much less intense halo. None of it was really impressive enough to warrent constant use though.

All hunting outcomes are reletive to the conditions you hunt and numerous variables that can happen on each stand. I think too many times blaming gear is the easiest thing to do, even though it may have actually been something else that caused a poor outcome. It is impossible to tell most of the time. Hunting pressure has a huge impact no matter what gear you are hunting, in those situations sometimes its better to be lucky than good. One thing about it, if you are having poor luck changing gear sure wont hurt. If anything maybe it will boost your confidence, and I think that factors in alot more than we all realize.

Maybe making a change of lenses again to use in this particular area would improve my chances some more.There was one coyote out of close to ten when I was using white light in this area that did not run, instead he sat! I think that I will give green a try a bit this fall.

The very first coyote that I ever called at night was when i was 13 years old. My dad finally had had enough of my begging him to take me out, so we loaded up... and went about a block down from my old home to a stand of brush. I had old Burnham Brothers rubberband type mouth call that I bought from an army surplus store for 7 dollars. Well I did not expect to see a coyote, but the first time my dad opened up with the light,(White Light I might add) there was one about maybe 100yds out and coming in, till he saw the light that is. I missed on a running shot.

I had one of those rubberband calls. In fact, one of my first. I ordered it and a long range call out of Outdoor life, when I was 12. They were responsible for a lot of dead stuff.

You guys know your stuff - I love a thread like this! A friend of mine once told me of a hunt he went on and found a guy who could call coyotes into killing range just because there are so many of them, not because the fella had any skill. This kind of thread proves the moderators and video makers have the skill and the ambition to get out there and prove their point. We're lucky to have this forum and I think it is a very good tool for those of us who venture out at night.
I want to mention one thing about the red lens - if you watch any of those nature flicks with biologists running around in the dark African nights, they are using the red lens.

I would like to start off by saying awsome video! Ive seen it three times and get a kick out of it every time I see it. A buddy of mine called me and said that he had a predator calling video that He thought I would like, so he brought it over to the house one evening and what do I see before me, Hunting The Night Shift. I really miss that call, as it somehow got lost over the years. Do you know where I can get a hold of another one?
