Bobcat cartridge selection

I think it’s entirely up to where you hit them. I’ve shot them with the 110gr Varmegeddons out of the .308 and have to look for the holes. Done the same with the 87gr V-Max out of the .243.

With that said, I’ve almost had to recover two halves with both bullets.

I’ve killed a lot of bobcats with .223 using 60 grain vmax and been very fur friendly. More times than not, no exit.
Agree with the V-Max offering.

I’ve had minimal damage with the 53g V-Max.
Bullet placement is key regardless of the round.
The heavier the bullet entering and hitting bone is going to make for a nasty exit.
53g Vmax basically a frangible round, goes in and seldom will exit. I’ve hit multiple cats ranging from 50, 75 yards square in the chest coming straight at me and that little round levels em.

17 hornet, have 1. Its a drt rifle on coon, fox, and even a coyote at 150. Its 22-250 speed with a 20 gr bullet. Inch high at 100, inch low at 200. Mine is a savage 25, and its crazy accurate.
I had a 17 hornet in an m25 as well. Incredibly accurate, I sold it like an idiot

No Bobcats around here, but we have Lynx. I use a 204 Ruger loaded down to 2150 fps with a 32gr bullet. No big holes, shots are generally close, inside 40 yards

I have killed a few foxes and bobcat with 22 wmr, and one fox with 17 hmr. The two grey foxes hit with the 22 wmr dropped right where they were shot. That was using the 30 grain vmax. The bobcat was shot with 40 grain cci gamepoint, and went about 15 yards after shot. The grey fox with the .17 was shot using 20 grain cci gamepoint. He went about 20 yards after shot. Zero pelt damage on any. A bad shot using either would result in a lost animal.
