I dunno if they ever bury it or not. I find a lot of it that they don't. Dirt roads, logging roads, cleared trails, and fields, I've found it just laying out in the open on all of these.

Not sure how to describe it in words, but I know it when I see it. Once you see it and know what it is, you'll know it again. Maybe someone has a picture they can post.

I'm in Alabama now, but I've found it in similar places here, in Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.

I need to get a digital camera and take with me when I go out. It'd be easy to collect pics of various sign and post them.

Ya know, this thread has given me an idea. If I could get pictures from members of various sign, such as bear, coyote, bobcat, and cougar scat, or other unique things we look for when scouting, I could make up a web page and host it on PM so we'd have a central place to go and look.

For bobcats, if it's fresh it has a greenish tint to it. Old & drying out it turns white.

It's a few inches long, maybe an inch across give or take, segmented and has hair in it.

Hey guys,

Here's a site I use when in question about tracks and scat. Some decent photos and animal biology included. Don't know where they stand on hunting issues but I make use of the info.

Not trying to step on anyones toes, just offering a little info. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Stu, I'm no expert, but what you see in the roads is probably coyote scat, they love to leave a message in the middle of the road. The way I understand it, bobcats usually don't dump in the middle of a road, I've killed alot of cats and I never had to look for there scat, so I don't know that much about it. I don't know what lions do with it lol, though I have seen a few of them. I'm not real sure I'd know lion scat if I seen it and I'm not sure most people would. I guess I'm lucky to live in real good cat country, I don't have to worry about all that stuff lol, good hunting.

well the way to tell is pick it up and put it real close to ur nose and smell is it smells good it isn't a cat, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
