In pics I have a mound clear of leaves near a deer kill. On mound there is a cat track, hard to tell in pics. Is this a Bobcat scrape? Good place to try and trap?

In indiana we are approaching our first ever Bobcat trapping season. Thinking of making a set here if it is a good spot. Have a Bobcat Pic on log road 15yds from this area.

Hey I’m not an expert, but to me they’re about as easy to catch as coons and possums. I joke I can make the ultimate coyote set and a bobcat will clog it up.

If you find tracks make a dirt hole set right along the road/trail/2 track where you find tracks. By dirthole I mean let your inner toddler self come out and make it as gaudy as possible. The gaudier the better.

If you want a blind set, set it exactly where the tracks are. You can block like crazy with cats I mean put little sticks everywhere and “make” him step on that pan.

If you can find scat, do your best to put a set right beside the scat and blend it like it’s not there. I’ve caught 4 cats and a fox on one set and just keep taking the scat from the previous catch and putting it right beside the trap.

Some folks use a walk through set, my issue is I don’t have trails like that down here. Cameras will also show me pics of cats and I use them on grassy roads or intersections where I suspect cats may be but can’t see tracks.

The fact you have a cat on camera, I’d place traps there. The problem with trapping right near “kills” is buzzards. They’re easy to release, but you don’t want them ruining a set.

Thanks, the deer is stripped, and now dragged away from its original resting place. Nov8 is the start of season here in Indiana. If they are as easy as coon and possum, I should have a snowballs chance of catching one. I'm not much of a trapper.

Bobcats isn't hard to catch. I use a big dirt hole set. Some western trappers dont even cover there traps. Set them in trails. On top of the ground. Here are 2 from Arkansas. I was using Duke 1 3/4 4 coil offset modified traps. I use them on public land. Both caught on dirt hole sets. Make sure your trap is beded solid . In case a coyote comes around. If you can catch a coon. You can catch a cat. You know where one is set it up. Put more than 1 set in. In case a coon or opossum comes by. Maybe set a dog proof or 2. Before you get to your cat sets. Arkansas on private land u can hunt or trap bobcats yr around 24/7.
