Hey I’m not an expert, but to me they’re about as easy to catch as coons and possums. I joke I can make the ultimate coyote set and a bobcat will clog it up.
If you find tracks make a dirt hole set right along the road/trail/2 track where you find tracks. By dirthole I mean let your inner toddler self come out and make it as gaudy as possible. The gaudier the better.
If you want a blind set, set it exactly where the tracks are. You can block like crazy with cats I mean put little sticks everywhere and “make” him step on that pan.
If you can find scat, do your best to put a set right beside the scat and blend it like it’s not there. I’ve caught 4 cats and a fox on one set and just keep taking the scat from the previous catch and putting it right beside the trap.
Some folks use a walk through set, my issue is I don’t have trails like that down here. Cameras will also show me pics of cats and I use them on grassy roads or intersections where I suspect cats may be but can’t see tracks.
The fact you have a cat on camera, I’d place traps there. The problem with trapping right near “kills” is buzzards. They’re easy to release, but you don’t want them ruining a set.
