Bobcat Mount back from Taxidermist

I finally got my 31 pound male bobcat mount back from the taxidermist. I took a few photos first with him propped up
against the recliner in the living room, then mounted him on the wall. The base is artificial rock.

Dr. J, I was using a Foxpro FX3 with a gray fox sound when the caller cut out on me - dead batteries. I had only called for a short while when it stopped. I had decided to pack it in and go home when my headlight caught eyes down the hill from me, maybe 40 yards or so. I grabbed the rifle (Dtech 6x45) and turned on the Gen 1 NV scope (ATN Spartan 410). I had a laser illuminator and when I turned it on I could see it was a bobcat. It was walking along an old tractor road on the farm. It stopped about 50+ yards from me and I fired. The cat must have been close in the area when I began calling since the caller didn't run very long.

The cat hit the dirt right there and I was congratulating myself on dropping one so quickly (they usually jump sky high and run), when suddenly it got to it's feet and down the thick wooded hollow it went. I gave it a few minutes and went after it. I found it maybe 15-20 yards from where it was standing when I shot, but straight over a steep bank and in the thick stuff.

I knew I had a good cat when I laid eyes on it, and carrying it up out of that hollow was no easy task. When I got home I weighed it on a digital scale and it was 30 pounds, 15 ounces. That is by far the largest cat I have taken (11 so far) with the next largest one weighing in at 27 pounds. When my wife saw it she said "that's a leopard!" LOL.

That is just awesome. Every time I see one of these, it makes me want a bobcat more.
Being as I have no idea how much stuff like that costs, what did that run? If you don't mind saying.
Not if, but when I get a kitty like that, I will have it mounted too.

The bobcat itself cost $450 and the artificial rock base was $141. The base is very nice and worth every penny in my opinion,
and the cost of the cat is about right for this area. I know they fetch a higher dollar in other places.

I was limited in the number of poses / forms available since the cat was so large. I know there are larger cats around but I don't
think I'll ever get one. The taxidermist's Dad told me "I am 76 years old and this is one of the nicest cats I have seen." I think he
may have been the original founder of the company and now his son does the work.

Here are photos of the 27 pound male that I want to have mounted too. It's been in the freezer for a while but should be good,
it's wrapped good. I'm going to have to save a while to have this one done.

Ha! Not that. Just because I have shot a few cats doesn't make me a master. I think there are a lot of guys on here who are masters at it though. But thanks for the kind thought.
