Bolt Action VS, Semi Auto

It really doesn't make a difference whether you loose a little if even desernable. As long as you stay withing the limitations of the round and your own abilities. Picking an semi auto over a bolt because of the faster second round already says you don't have the confidence to get the job done with the first one.

I don't take issue with what type of action a person chooses to hunt with. Using the same logic stated above it is pretty stupid to hunt rabbits with a 10/22 or model 60. A BAR is nothing like an AR anyway and has the benefit of reducing recoil. I wouldn't mind owning a BAR with a good trigger job that is re-barreled to 6.5x55. For me it would be cool. What causes me to grimace inwardly is the people that insist they need a 300 WM, 7mm RM or such for deer, that a 30-06 or .308 isn't enough. But I'm not going to say anything because it is none of my business and it is a free country.

the difference? i hope there is a prize because i think i got this one. no snow on the ground when the top one was killed versus snow on the ground for second?

Lucky,
Ballistic wise probably not much difference. They shoot great.

Get her a little dirty and none of the above makes a difference!

I missed a coyote once, twice, three times....he stopped apparently because dirt was flying around him. As soon as he stopped I connected. Then I shot some more as he ran. He finally went down. After walking up to him and finishing him off I had shot 9 rounds and that was all I had with me cuz there is no way I will ever shoot that much in one stand lol. Bolt gun probably would not of cut it on that trip. With this said I always carry bolt guns now because I like 55's at around 3700 fps. If you are gonna miss you might as well do it fast and get it over with!

I did not read all 3 pages but the BAR will have a bit less recoil being semi. You should not see any differences in velocity, etc. Accuracy should be acceptable with BAR

I believe at one time the BAR was chambered in .22-250. I am fond of the .243 Winchester... it just works. And does so on a variety of critters.

The BAR was at one time chambered in .22-250. I considered it before buying an AR-15. I didn't want a .22-250. I wanted a .223. I prefer conventional looking firearms. If the BAR was scaled down some making it smaller and lighter, now that would be sweeter than sweet.
I'm kinda hardheaded about what I want.

Own several AR's that I have set up for varmint and/or predator hunting. Likewise I have several bolt actions. Shoot and enjoy all of them. Good, accurate AR's are not hard to come by anymore. I'm old and old fashioned so I might lean a bit towards a bolt action rifle but anyone that bad mouths a good AR probably hasn't shot one.
