Like other predator hunters my buddy and I decided to get some time afield before the storm arrived Sunday Am.
First set was a bust but at the second set we called in a pair right away and my buddy hit one that hobbled into a swampy area.
It didn't come out, so we decided to wait and see if we could call the dog back that was with it.
That dog didn't show up, but a third dog showed up from a different direction and was coming in before it got bored and laid down at 380 yards away.
I had the safety off and was so close to pulling the trigger but didn't because I was hoping it would eventually come closer.
Never happened.
Shortly after I stopped the video to change batteries in the scope it got up, gave me the paw and disappeared into the woods barking/laughing the whole way.
After that my buddy followed the blood trail into the swamp and gave up after he got hip deep in snow and was soaked with sweat.
Not a good thing to be soaked in single digit temps.
We ended up glassing fields on the way back to his house and didn't see anything but deer.
Even though we didn't find that dog or get a shot at the bored dog, it was good to finally see some coyote after a three week dry spell.
