BrassGuys? 223 brass..

I'm personally always goosey of processed brass and won't buy it. Over the years I've seen so much of it screwed up its worthless having scrap value only.
 
That doesn't seem bad for fully processed and nicely packaged brass. I bought some from Brassman brass, 1k Rem headstamp un-crimped for $85 shipped. I see now they have Winchester and LC, but both of those are crimped.

How so? Just curious what they did to it. My concern was they would push shoulders down the max amount and I'd have excessive headspace, shortening brass life. I'd rather start with it unsized and size it to fit the chamber I'm using it in.
 
It could have been shot full auto in training some where, and it blows up the case a little bit more than you want to resize, at least more than once. Case gauge will tell you.
 
You should always fully resize used brass you buy and then trim to length. I use once fired LC all the time and never have a problem with "Machinegun" brass.
 
I have bought a lot of LC mixed headstamp. All seems pretty good sure you get the occasional bad one. If it's a good deal to you grab it. Resize it an trim and run it have fun
 
At the price on can get this Mil brass for, a few culls is a non-concern. I have a large batch of TAA now for my 223 and use LC for my 6x45s. I have yet to have to cull any from them. I got both batches from Brass Bombers and will do so again if need be.

They do it correctly.

if you purchased a batch of brass, and verified with one of the various gauges out there (like a sheridan slotted gauge, or a headspace comparator for your calipers) that the headspace on said batch was bad you would be able to return said faulty product for a refund or exchange it for good product from a different lot.

this would be no different than buying any other item and getting it out of spec, no less in a manner that potentially puts the end user in an unsafe situation.

no company in their right mind (who wants to stay in business for any length of time that is) would leave such a product out there for open viewing on the internet without taking it back and offering the abovementioned exchange/refund. this applies without even considering the potential liability behind said product.

 
I just picked up 1k LC only headstamped brass, from BrassBombers, for $87 shipped. I have purchased 308 LC brass from them before, and have yet to find a bad case. Now I do buy the "cleaned only" stuff, and do my own prep. Basically I re-size and de-prime it, clean it in a vibrator cleaner, to remove the sizing lube, anneal it, trim it, and remove the primer crimp with a electric drill, and a chamfer tool. The results are very good 223/5.56 brass, that I get a number of loads out of.

As for "machine gun" brass, I know some of the 308 LC brass came from a military range, with 7.62 light machine guns unloading through the muzzle, and I have never had an issue with the brass. Yes, it takes a bit more effort to run it through the Redding FL SB sizing die, but once it is resized and annealed, all is good.
