Brent Saxton seminar in WV!!

Catfishlouie,

I just talked with a guy from up there last night, he said there will be more than enough room to seat everyone.

Guys thanks for all the kind words!! Have not talk with some of you all in awhile!

Ragncajn,

We will talk about this more on the phone you old fart!

Brent

Brent,

Good to see you're still out calling and teaching the newbies! I know you'll pack'em in! I'd sure be interested in that new video when you get it done. Take care...

Im still around Tom! Its hard to run us old dogs off...lol

Good to see your doing well! Missed you at the LBL for sure! How is those little girls? Doing well I hope!

We have worked hard to improve on the next video's, new equipment, sound, editing softwear, out own editing equipment. Its almost a endless money pit...lol But the next three video's this fall will be so much better, it will make it all worth it. There are some good things coming for sure!

Things have been good and we are still plugging along!

Brent

My information is that the seminar will be in the multi-purpose room near the cafeteria. That is on the far left as you turn into the campus. Park in the left front parking area and you will see a set of doors on the front of the lefthand two story building. Enter there and bear to your left.
Should be a great seminar. I hope we have a good turnout. Maybe they will do some more! Looking forward to seeing you again Brent.

Jim

I hope to be there, but as it stands I'm on call that weekend. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif I'll definitely make the one JAMaidens is doing in Clarksburg next month.

msmith, If I could only make one of these seminars I would definitely get someone to cover me on call. Because Brent Saxton actually calls and kills coyotes here in the East. Brent is one of the best Eastern callers out their.

Do a search and talk to deferent people and see which one actually kills coyotes here in the East. After doing that ask yourself which person would you like to have giving you pointers.

"Someone that kills coyotes here or someone that repeats what is already on the boards."

CCP, thanks for your valuable insight. Is there a particular reason you dropped in our little home to disparage one of our Moderators.

I would almost we willing to drive the 7 hours to sit thru one of his seminars. He is one of the few film makers that includes valuable tips... not just a shoot'm up films. Can't wait for his next video.

So... let me get this strait (an bear with me here... this should be fun) I have never hunted with you nor have I even set my eyes on you... right? So... in your infinite wisdom of ME how do you know what I can and can't do, what I have done, or how I hunt? Have you been stalking me? Following every move I make for the past two decades? Have you set forth on a study of my hunting habits with a pen and paper ready to write down the "hunting life of Jeff"? Please enlighten me? I am dieing to know...

Let me start the "hunting life of Jeff"! I grew up in the hills of West Virginia... I started into the woods with my older brothers and Father when I was about seven. I started learning the REAL way to hunt then, "Walk in my footsteps, that way you know you are stepping in the right places..." Was my first hunting lesson from my brother. What he neglected to realize was his strides were longer then mine so I was jumping to make his footsteps my own. I made so much noise I can't believe we even seen a squirrel. I hunted squirrel, groundhog, & rabbit when I was young. Then as I got older I started hunting grouse, deer, then turkey when they started to get plentiful. Were you there when I was thirteen and hunting with my brother Jamie on our families farm and killed my first red fox with the 22 Hornet that sits in my gun safe now? Where you there giggling at me when I was getting blanked for the first two years of "predator" hunting... only to realize I let the wind mess up every stand I made? That was around 1994... Where you there in 1995 when I killed my first bobcat here in the hardwood bottoms of west Tennessee? How about my first double on coyotes... still shocked that I shot the first one, I barely remembered to reload my Contender in time to get the shot off at the male that was now standing a hundred yards out wondering why the female I just popped hadn't got up to run with him? Where you the one that reminded me to reload? No... really? You still were not there? In 2000 I moved to Erie, PA and started hunting predators at night. That was a full YEAR before Predator Masters was here. I was still learning and adjusting to calling in PA. It was not an easy adjustment, but many red and grey fox fell in spite of my lack of knowledge. A few "wise PA" coyotes did as well. Did you help me move back to the mid south in 2002? Did you hunt with me as I fell right back into predator hunting the hardwood bottoms, the small ridges and hills of the Hatchie River Bottoms? I learned MY basics of hunting from my father and my brothers, then learned hunting coyote was in a world all to it's own with lessons of humility and hard headedness. So don't disparage my knowledge of hunting by saying that I learned all of it from these boards... have I learned anything from Predator Masters? YOU BET! The funny thing is... there is not ONE person alive right now that can say they learned EVERYTHING they know about hunting by themselves. PERIOD! I could go on and on... but we all know where it goes. You don't know me from Adam and I like it that way. It sucks that you chose this thread of Brent's to do this. It sure looks nice badmouthing another to push people to his seminars. I am a moderator here for one reason, to help others learn what took me some hard lessons to learn. So... what are YOU here for? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Very well said and a lot of good points Jeff. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I too wonder why some come here and try to spoil such things as others threads that really did seem to be useful and interresting even when some didn't agree, that is until the crap started to slip in.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif... Let's beat up on sullivt too. He might prefer Mr. saxton videos over say Al Morris. Before you all jump my rear i wanna say that Mr.Saxon, Mr. Baxter, Mr.JAMaidens,Mr.Lindley have been extremly helpful to me as well has many other gentlemen. It seems that Mr.Baxter voiced his personal opinion and as far as i can tell this whole forum is about opinion's. I'm gonna get kicked of here arent i? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

No skeet, you did fine. The thing that went awry is I can't understand why a Moderator from another board, the same board Brent is a Moderator on, would come to this board to disparage one of our moderators. It showed no class.

I have met Brent. He does not need one of his fellow Moderators carrying his lunch. He is an accomplished caller and hunter. He can really scream on a caller, He is very personable and I am sure will put on a great Seminar. I also consider him a friend. I can't help it if his Ohio Buckeyes got humiliated on national Television by My LSU Tigers.

Not only did he disparage JA, he also told mssmith what he thought he should do with his on life and how he should spend his time. It was uncalled for and served absolutely no benefit to the Predator Hunting community as a whole.

Edited to change a name I had placed incorrectly

I'm just not sure from reading what Mr.Baxter said that he meant it that way. I could be wrong. According to my wife i'm usually always wrong so it stands to reason it would happen on here too. I'm not going to say a thing about LSU. I spent some time in Gonzales LA and you all are some hard core fans. I will say darn Pittsburg for screwing West Virginia.Actually West Virginia screwed them selves.

Is it summer already? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Let the games begin. I thought with all this going on that it must be summer again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have had the pleasure of spending some LBL hunts with both CCP and Kee. There is without a doubt nobody in the East that is any better than these two when it comes to hunting coyotes. Not bragging on them, just stating the facts.
Well George Ackley or Coyotehunter 1 might be better, but who knows. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's not what I came here to say though. Brent's video is a good video. I have it and for a first attempt it is done quite well. It's sole purpose is to help new guys, which in case some of you haven't noticed, this sport is getting full of new guys.

I do think however that I am going to start giving seminars on coyote hunting in the East. I can kill coyotes here, I can make Kee's Howler sound almost as good as he can and I'm a lot funnier than anyone else in the east. Ask anyone that was at the LBL this year, it's just plain truth. Not bragging but when your five and half feet anyway they turn you, it's just a natural thing. Look at John Candy, John and Jim Belushi, Chris Farley, Larry the Cable Guy, etc. My friends from my youth swear up and down that Chris Farley saw me at the Red Dog one night and stole my act. The folks I work with call me Larry the Cable Guy.

Now ask yourself. Do you want somone up there just droning on about how to do a set up, call, what to look for, wind, caliber selection and all that or do you want someone doing that and still making you wet your pants from laughing... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Sorry 'bout jacking your thread Frog, but you know me from the LBL so I'm sure you understand. This bad boy had already gotten jacked so I just added my brand to it.
Lot's of love boys......... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

"The thing that went awry is I can't understand why a Moderator from another board, the same board Brent is a Moderator on, would come to this board to disparage one of our moderators. It showed no class."

The thing I disagree on here is why is it that CCP drops in and gives his opinion and just because I moderate on another board it makes that much of a difference? I moderated here for a long time? Now what’s changed?

Randy,

I see you as a friend as well but fact is CCP just posted his opinion and just because I moderate on another board that was the reason for his post? All he did was give his opinion. I don’t see were me being a moderator any were else should have anything to do with this and makes it look like he did this on purpose, I know Rich very well and he is very open with his opinions, but what does that haft to do with me being a moderator any were else?

Why is it that I cant leave here, moderate some were else and still be welcome? I think I have allot to offer your members but feel as though if I post open here I will pay the price. That’s why I don’t advertise here, that and how the account was handled.

Not trying to stir crap here but it looks like just because we moderate together he cant post his opinion on a thread?

There are several replies in this thread that are not on topic, not picking on anyone here but the first reply was about my video. The thread didn’t say anything about the video, just that I was doing a seminar. It wasn’t a review thread of the video? I didn’t jump in there and get defensive, no need to. The video speaks for its self and every one is entitled to there opinion.

To be honest, this is one of the reasons I don’t post allot more here than I do. To much controversy. I’m not looking to punk no one or anything like that. But if I post and its took the wrong way then I’m the bad guy?

Brent

Aren't fins n ferns missing some of you guys? Better hurry, you might be missing some more cheesy gossip. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

The day after I posted this, I got to thinking that someone was going to take it and run with it. I apologize, I should never have mentioned another seminar in this thread just for this reason. I mentioned it in passing without thinking.

As far as getting someone to cover my call...it's not as easy as JUST asking or even trading. I can only trade for March weekends and most people have made their schedules around their own call which means they already have plans. There are only 2 others I could trade with since there are only that many weekends left in March and on one of those, I have a fishing trip planned with my kids.

Since this thread has already been jacked. I would love to go to BOTH seminars. I have followed both guys on the boards for a while and have Brent's video. I really feel that both guys have a lot to offer as far as hunting in the east goes. If I had known about Brent' seminar sooner, I probably could have worked something out. I lament that I will probably have to miss it.

Jeff Maidens actully stomps some of the same ground that I do. He knows the unique conditions that Marshall, Wetzel, and Tyler counties have. Perhaps Brent has, I don't know so I can't comment on that but, knowing this, ask yourself the same question.

Once again, I apologize to frogmand and Brent for jacking this thread. I really didn't mean for it to happen. Like I said, I just made a comment without thinking.

Mike
