Broke in the New Foxpro X-24

Bought me a new Foxpro MFK Edition X-24, & broke it in proper like.

Second set of the night made in the picked bean strip between standing corn strips.

67 degrees, 73% humidity

Facing east, light wind quartering off my right shoulder from the NE.

Took about 5 minutes for this 'ol gal to show.

Once she got close to the caller, she spooked, giving me déjà vu all over again.

Luckily she stopped, giving me a perfect broadside shot...boom!

I figured maybe the bright green light was the culprit, so it's now covered up.

Wham Bam thank you mam! You tried a selfie stick out yet Al?
Thanks Mike.

I found an extra Swarovski neck strap in my overflow bucket, so I'm sticking with that for now.

Especially since I don't use the rubber eye piece, & steady it with my thumb on my nose, & finger on the eye brow for consistent eye relief.

Happy as a pig in shit with the new scanner.

I took that youngun (29) out again last night and he shot his 4th coyote. I again got to look through his mini and can understand that pig in shit comment.

Also, when you run it as a handheld with it's 1.3X, it still has the full 17.5 degree FOV.

It's nice not having to scan in hyper mode at times back when running the 13 degree Phenom.

Pretty cool alf! That’s the way to do it… Gotta get on em and just get it done while they second guess themselves. Nice shooting.

Whats your opinion on it vs what you had?
When I started shopping, increased FOV over the Phenom was the main focus.

I was really homed in on the Iray Zoom 38, due to it having a dual power of 1.5X and 3X with 640 resolution on either, hence the "Zoom" moniker.

Only downside holding me back was the weight.

Ultimately, I kept coming back to the the Micro, with it's four ways of usage. Whether I use it as other than a scanner is yet to be seen, but the options were/are appealing.

I can't begin to tell you how clear the image is in this unit, quite a bit better than the Phenom. I can't say how much of that is attributed to the lesser power of 1.3X vs 2.5X of the Phenom though.

Also, this has an AMOLED sensor vs OLED in the Phenom. In my research, I saw where you could ignore sensor type, but I have to believe there is a difference, but I'm sure the quality of the sensor, or lack thereof, comes into play as well.

Bottom line, I'm more than pleased with this unit, and glad I made the switch.

I got and RH 25 a few weeks ago and I’m really enjoying it and as you are Alf I’m impressed with the FOV and the clarity of it too.

I’m just using it as a handheld scanner but I might put it on a 22 sometime and shoot armadillos.

Very coo. I picked up a X-24 refurbished unit and I am very impressed. I shot my first one using this caller. I have a few MFK breeding sounds and they seem legit. Gonna try them out this Fall/Winter.

That little 1x scanner will be sweet ! My first scanner was the Pulsar hd19a which was a 1x to 2x. Loved the field of view on 1x ! If they were still making them I would have bought another !
I’m sure you will love that one !
jmeddy highly suggest trying the selfie stick. I have one on each of my scanners now 👍🏼👍🏼 ! Great arm relief ! Grandson thanked me for getting them !
I have the X2S Foxpro. The little green light is great for finding the caller faster. Never bothered the coyotes that I’ve noticed.
I’m sure you will enjoy your new toys 👍🏼 !

I agree, that green light makes finding the caller simpler. If it was visible from your stand position, you could easily walk right to the call without using light so locate the caller. Ups your chances of scanning and seeing a coyote that’s late to the party!

The I now use a neoprene call cover on my X2s and it covers the light completely for the most part. I think the quieter carrying of the call outweighs the visible light so I’ll deal with it.

I too do not think that little green light had any impact on the response of any coyotes.
