Broke the battery off my Bushnell 1600 ARC customer service question

As the title says I broke the battery compartment off my Bushnell Rangefinding binoculars. Really don't know how it happened I was coyote hunting Friday morning and in between stands I looked down and thats when I noticed it was gone.

I called Bushnell they arent covered by any warranty and the guy who was extremely rude, told me I would have to send them in for a repair quote. Then they would mail me the quote then I would respond by mail if I wanted them to fix them and send payment then they would fix them and return them. I was also told the whole process could take 10-12 weeks. They wouldnt give me any kind of ball park figure on the phone.

So I'm wondering if anyone on here has dealt with Bushnell customer service and what your experience was? Maybe someone on here has had the same repair made and could tell me what they paid? It must be a fairly common problem, I'm the 3rd person from this area that I know of to have this exact same problem but no one else has sent theirs in. Apparently they don't mind having a 1200 pair of Rangefinding binoculars that don't range.

I absolutely adore these binos. They work in any weather conditions and getting readings is very easy. Unlike some range finders they are very forgiving and you don't have to be rock solid steady to get a reading. Ive ranged buildings beyond 2000 and animals beyond 1600 they plain work. However this battery thing is a flaw and their customer service so far seems to be a joke.

Wow that sucks. I'd probably try calling again and hope for a different person.

So is it just the battery door? I'm trying to picture a battery compartment coming off but don't know how those are built.

I dealt with Bushnell once, sent in an elite scope that went wonky. They fixed it but wanted a 10 dollar bill for shipping. Never did send that and they never pursued it. Otherwise it didn't seem to take too long.

Like 204 said, call again if see if you get a better CS representative. I had the same issue, not with Bushnell, but a different company, the second CS representative took care of the problem. Any ways it sucks, good luck I hope Bushnell make it right.

I sent in a pair of Bausch and Lomb Discoverer 10x42 binos that the center diopter failed on and they didn't even attempt to honor the lifetime warranty on it. The best Bushnell could offer was a discount on their equivalent on the shelf product, which I googled and found I could get the same binos $100 cheaper from other retailers. I know that's not apples to apples example for you, but that sure doesn't show much attempt at gaining customer loyalty when compared to experiences my friends have had with other brands. They weren't even original purchasers, I was the original on my binos. I'll spend my money on some optics where they will take care of you and honor their warranty. Not just when it's convenient. Hope you have better luck and happy trails.

I finally got around to sendjng the pair of binoculars in this thread into Bushnell. The turn around time was much quicker than the rude CS rep originally told me but the result was anticipated, no warranty coverage and they said the cost to repair would be more expensive than buying a new pair so they offered me a discount on a new one. The discount was significant but not exactly over the top and considering the new ones have the same battery compartment that hangs off the front just begging to be broken and lost I think I'm going in a different direction.

I never indicated other wise throughout this thread. Just following up on this situation and how it turned out. The last CS Rep did say the newest generation of these is covered under warranty. It is disappointing that their best answer is to just buy a new pair and that both CS reps I've talked to now have been incredibly rude.
