Dear Folks,

We want to thank everyone for your patience with us. Thanks especially to those of you
who told us orders were being delivered "out of cycle." We’ve been in business an
awfully long time and are proud of our reputation for great service, so we had to find
out what was going on.

And we found the problem. Simple really. About 15 years ago we put in place system
logic prioritizing a few back orders ahead of others. It was a rare situation, but
necessary at the time and under normal market conditions back then, those reasons
made sense.

Then the world changed, and back orders ballooned into the thousands – literally –and our system and the vendor’s ability to keep up just broke that logic. About 300
orders were moved to the head of the line under the old system logic, and had their
orders shipped ahead of where they should have been in line. It moved all the rest of
you back about 300 places in line – which, rightfully so, caused an uproar.

When we found the problem, we immediately disabled this logic, truly resuming our
first in first out policy. The real problem is that demand is far greater than any factory’s
ability to quickly catch up.

The good news is we have cured the broken system logic; thanks for telling us. We are
shipping in order received, and handling your orders the way we have always tried to –honestly, fairly, and with everything right on top of the table.

Best,

Frank &amp Pete Brownell

Yeah, just got mine too, nice to see they listen.

Im confused by what logic they would have had to come up with in the first place to mess it up? Seems simple enough to me, first order in, first order out.

Either way, sounds like they are good to go now.

I didn't get the letter, but I ordered 20 boxes (1000) rounds of .40 ammo Dec 16. they said it was in stock when I ordered it. they shipped 1 box two weeks later, then they shipped 2 more boxes the next day. today I received the other 17 boxes. I thought it was a weird way to business but after 3 weeks I did get it all.

and when you order ammo from Brownells, it is shipped by Sinclair. must be the same company.

idk, I talked to both manufactures of lowers I backorded as well as brownells today, and all three have said orders are being filled all the time however a little birdy whispered into my ear that the backorders for lowers are very much into XX,XXX numbers, and that was only from one company. its going to be a very long time till they are caught up. might as well just forget about the backorder and go fishing. will be a very nice surprise when the parts do show up.

I agree. I was trying to build an AR when all this happened. I have moved on from that now. maybe sometime later if things ever become available.

I got the email too, I heard about their shipping problem and was a little ticked, until the day after I got an email stating my pmags that I ordered on 12/18/12 were being shipped. Shipping notifications make me a happy camper!

I got the email also. I think it'll be a while before I get my 5 $80 lowers that I ordered on Dec. 21st. Brownells says they are getting several scheduled shipments of them, but they have no way of showing how far down the wait list we are.

I've been building 2 and went into full gear on one after the election. I just finished it and got it back from my buddies who notched my bbl put the final torquing on it and ran it to ensure all was well.

My second will be a while I'm afraid. I am not paying the prices being asked currently. I will wait for everyone to regain their senses and the market to slow. BCGs are nearly 3x what
I paid for my Spikes BCG and I paid too much then but I saw the direction the market was moving and jumped before it was too late.

I learned a few good lessons, mainly one doesn't have to spend top dollar to get a top performing rifle. If you have patience one can pick up parts that are lightly used dirt cheap. Scour the classifieds and have cash on hand. Do your research and know what you are buying first and foremost and be patient. I thimk the hardest part to find will be BCGs.

My guess would be that when the system was designed, it logged backorders 1-999. Once the orders hit 1000, the system registered that as the head of the line. Likely just an oversight in their order tracking programs.

I've had a stripped Rock River lower stashed in my safe for a couple of years. When Sandyhook took place, I went on line and ordered a RRA lower parts kit, a Magpul stock, and a stock mounting kit from Brownells. I ordered the parts on December 15th. Brownells showed all the parts were in stock when I ordered them. I got a shipping notification on the LPK, and Magpul stock on Monday the 17th, but was told the stock mounting kit was backorded. I thought I was screwed but then received a shipping notice on the mounting kit the next day. All parts had arrived safely by Christmas eve. I thought it strange they showed the mounting kit backordered for only one day.
