Im getting ready to purchase a new rifle. Its a Browning .338 Win Mag semi-auto with a gold trigger and scope. I dont know a lot about this gun and I was wondering if anyone has one or might know a little bit about this gun. Im getting a good deal (I think) on this rifle. Im getting the rifle with a scope and a sling for $475. It hasnt even had a whole box of shells shot throguh it yet and its in great condition. It has a wooden stock. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Use the "SEARCH" feature and "BAR" for your search/key word. You'll find a lot of discussion regarding BAR rifles, nearly all of it good to excellent. I have two, a 06' and a .243 and value them both highly. You didn't say in your post what sort of scope, but the price sounds very good. That is one of the easiest recoiling .338 Magnums you'll likely ever shoot.

That's a TERRIBLE price. You should not even consider it.

(Please send me the sellers contact info though.) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Seriously, I've never owned one but have shot one and would buy it at that price without hesitation.

I own a Browing BAR 338 mag. and mine is one fine shooting rifle. Took it Canada on a caribou trip a few years back and it performed great. I just got a box of 160 grain barnes x bullets that I'm really wanting load up and see if I can get about 3400 fps in a bullet that big. If so it will be a pretty flat shooter for that much horsepower. One my hunting buddies bought one after shooting mine and he really puts a hurtin on the deer with it. $475.00 That's a good price, I used to have an archery & gun shop and I know I've sold some I ended up with in trades for more than that. I'd say buy that rifle and if you don't like it, I'll buy it, I can always use a back up. Be sure you have good glass on top, I have a 3.5x10x40 leupold vari-x 3 on mine and it is an awsome scope.

I dont have a BAR , but I do have a 338 Win. Model 70. Love the gun. So far, have only killed jack rabbits and 1 coyote with it. It's a hoot.
Sniper270 , that 160 gr bullet is on the lighter end of the 33 cal spectrum. Should be fun to shoot.
Here is a target from when I was doing load development. I was only using 3 shot group. There are 2 groups, each is a different weight of powder. I was shooting 200 gr Nosler Ballistic tips.

Thanks for all the replies. All of the info was a big help. Im not for sure what kind of scope is on it. One of my dad's freinds has it for sale and my dad called me and asked me if I was interested in it. I have to go pick it up sometime in May. Thanks again for all the help!
