OK purchased an A-bolt 243wssm from a gander mt. Store drove from Indiana to Mich. to purchase the only one available in this region. Plan to Preditor Hunt with it. Put the Gun through its Break in procedure and began the sighting in. In a LED Sled with 30lbs on the stand.
this gun was solid. could not get any type of group at 50yds.2" at best. so after evaluations,I discovered a inconsistancy when I pulled a patch through the bore.it felt like 4 humps in the grooves. so I contacted Browning and asked what they were willing to do. keep in mind after scoping this Gun I was over $1000.00 gun smith to mount and bore site the gun. and about 80 rounds in conditioning and siting in problems.
should have taken 3 rounds max. Browning answers, if it is defective we will fix it if we deem this gun ok we just send it back. we will not cover anything else. oh yah, 4 to 6 week turn around. so the fact that I purchased their product to hunt the Preditor season until end of march was not there problem. they would pay to ship it back to me, wow that was nice of them. so when I get thier defective product back, I can pay to do that all over again! they were not willing to do anything to lets say please me for my inconvinience. this is to spread the word to all. I personnally will never spend another dime with this company....

PS. Does anyone want to buy an A-bolt I got a great deal for you. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Stinks but it would probably be the same with most any of the manufacturers these days.

Took them 5 months to re-blue a shotgun that I sent them.

Take it back and get a CZ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sorry to hear that dude. That would definitely chap me pretty bad indeed. Hope it works out for ya.

I would try the short cut of taking it back to Gander first, just to see what they would be willing to do for you.

Secondly
Brownings customer service isnt much different than anybody else's. They will not put a new barrel on a rifle if they dont think they need to. If they have a long turn around time right now, its not their fault. You are not the only person who may have a problem, and need a rifle looked at. Right now your upset because you have a rifle that wont shoot, and understandably so I would be too. But you are slamming a customer servive dept that you have only talked to on the phone, and has never seen your rifle. I would hardly call it "issues" at this point.

Takes a month to get into the dentist with a sore tooth around here.

Yup.
I would take it back to Gander Mtn.
If the barrel is defective they they should be glad to take it back.
The liability for something like that is big.

Friend of mine bought a BAR in .308, when we tried to sight it in it would not move to the right as much as needed. He sent it back to Browing and they sent him a new gun.

My Wifes A-Bolt 270 is one of the finest rifles I have ever had the pleasure of working with. On the other hand her brother bought one in 243 that he was having trouble getting any consistancy out of. I contacted Browning but do not remember if I shipped the gun to them or an authorized service center. I believe it was to the Browning service dept. The gun was returned to us with in a very reasonable time (less than 3 weeks) with a test target that was very impressive. I looked the rifle over and could tell they had rebedded the action/barrel I do not know if they replaced the barrel but it hardly matters because the rifle is a shooter now. I contacted them once before concerning an old auto-5 and was very happy with their service.
