Browning Highwall 1885 Accuracy?

I have a Browning Highwall 1885 in 22/250 that I am looking to start working with at the range. I love the look and feel of this gun, but have had some people tell me that the two piece stock does not lend itself to stellar accuracy. Any truth to this from someone who actually owns one and put it through it's paces? If you have found a particularly good load (factory or hand load) I would be interested to know what it was.

Thanks-

I have seen a High wall in 22-250 shoot sub MOA groups. I have the low wall in 243 that shoots 3/4 inch groups with the right handloads.

you just might have one that shoots one hole groups, or then again it might not break 8'. go shoot it and find out. reading about a 2 piece stock from somebody else isn't going to tell you a thing.

Highwall's generally shoot very well. The nightmare of the forearm is generally linked to the Ruger number 1's. Think you will be ok with the Browning. Let us know how it does?

I got an older Browning 76 in 22-250. Beautiful rifle with a terrible trigger but shoots good & I'll never get rid of it.

Lately mine likes 50gr V-Max's pushed with 33.3 gr of IMR3031

Accuracy is usually better with a bolt action. With a falling block there's something about the front stock attachement and/or the trigger or extractor springs, that seems to affect the accuracy. But some have been known to shoot great and others are lucky at 8"

Goody523,
Welcome to Predator Masters! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I have a friend that has a Browning High Wall in .25-06 that is extremely accurate. Good luck with yours and the reloads for it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Good hunting, Bowhunter57
