Browning M-1000 Eclipse in 22/250

I noticed Browning just brought this gun out in 22/250 - anyone have any experience with it - good or bad? I have a feeling it may be a tack driver with the BOSS system and may also rid the 22/250 of the only thing I find annoying about it for prarie dog shooting - muzzle jump. I originally was in the camp that the BOSS system looked like a marketing gimmick, but after watching a buddy use one on a Stainless Stalker in 7mm Mag to dial in factory loads to touching groups I became a believer. I bought the same gun in .300 Win Mag and had the same kind of luck with it using 180 gr Remington Premier Scirrocos.

The only thing I see in the specs about this gun that seems a little iffy is a 1:14 twist - seems like you would have to shoot a pretty light bullet out of that barrel, which goes against my favoring a heavier bullet for long distance wind fighting.

Anyone have any first hand experience to share on this one?

I have the eclipse in 270. It doesnt have the weight of the heavy barrel like the m-1000 does, but on mine, the boss works well, and the thumbhole stock really lets me get comfortable shooting behind it. I think you would be happy, i have heard nothing but good about them. I am glad they finally started offering something else in that model, I wanted it for the same reasons you stated, but they only had it in the WSM's when I got mine. I wish i had first hand experience with that round, but its so new, you may be out of luck.

Thanks for the input - I am also glad to see Browning/Winchester going back to some "normal" calibers in some of their guns instead of trying to force feed us all these new idiotic super short magnums that will be bad memories in a few short years (in my opinion anyway). Maybe I will be the first guy to get one and let everyone know what I was able to do with it.

I had a .300 win mag m1000 eclipse with the boss and it was very accurate and tamed the muzzle well.I traded mine for an ar15 but it was a very nice gun just don't have use for a .300 win mag here in illinois.

I have a 22-250 (not browning) with 1-14. I shoot good groups with 45gr but 55 opens up to about a 4" group.
I have seen the Boss system in action and I would love to see how that 1-14 / Boss works with the heavy ones.

Keep us posted.

I will let you know what I find out as soon as I find someone who wants my Browning 1885 Highwall Heavy Barrel in 22/250. The dealer that has the Eclipse will only give me $600 for the gun and I know I can get at least $750-$800 if I find someone to buy it direct. The gun is in excellent condition so hopefully I can move it and try this Eclipse. I'll post results if I end up with it-
