Just got 300 wm practically thrown my way. 26" barrel, real nice gun. My problem is I already have two 30-06, one of which is 7600 that I absolutely love. If I keep the browning and put glass on it, it would probably turn into the out west gun, would I want a brake installed? Pricier Ammo, more ammo, new sling, etc. You get the idea, or should I just sell it and get it out of my head. I honestly have never fired a 300wm, and have heard different things, leaning toward keeping it. It is nib, just want to hear your thoughts, can't decide.

I don't like Browning bolt guns or muzzle brakes. But that doesn't mean you can't.
I would sell it. If I did keep it, I would not use a brake. But that's just me, not you.
Decide if you like it or not, and then either shoot it, or sell it.
After you shoot it, assuming you do, then decide whether or not you can shoot it comfortably or if you need a reduction in recoil. Everyone has a different level of recoil tolerance. For some, a 300 mag is no big deal at all. For others, well, they just flat out don't like it. Only you can decide.......

I really like my X bolt. Was looking for a 300 WSM to use as my back country elk rifle. Found a brand new X bolt stalker model in 270 WSM. The price was enough to convince me to buy it. 560 bucks and a 50 dollar off coupon to make the sale at $510. After hunting with it the past three years, I like it even more. The gun just plain shoots. Light weight, and crisp adjustable trigger.

I like Browning firearms overall, just own 1 X-Bolt, 'Micro-Hunter' in 7mm-08. I don't really have much use for a 26" barreled 300 win mag. That's not to say you shouldn't keep it.
You could tame it if you reload. I generally don't care for muzzle brakes. If you are on the fence, you could list it at a free site just under retail & see hoe it goes. If no buyer shows up at a good price just keep it.
