Anybody use BSA scopes ? I have Leupold 3-9 X 40 on my .204 but I would really like a mil dot BSA has 6-24x40 Mil Dot with a illuminated reticle for 120.00 any info would be helpful.
I have BSA scopes on several of my light guns up to 308 and and even on my 270 which takes the heavier shock well. They all work fine for me. I have that same scope in a 50 mm objective I would own another.
Thanks, I am a firm beliver in you "get what you pay for" more often then not, so thats why I am asking. The Leupold is off one of my other rifles, just wasn't ready to take out a bank loan for a mil dot yet. I seen the BSA at the Salem gun show yesterday.
I would strongly recommend that if you must spend less than $200 on a scope there is only one viable option: Swift Premier Scopes---these are 85% as good as a Leupold and are a true bargin. I'm not sure who all sells them and who has best price but you can read about and buy here:http://www.eabco.com/Swift01.htm
They make binoculers that are rated right up there with some of the worlds best by the Audabon Society testers and they cost 1/10 the price.
If you can't justify cost of B & L 3200 or Nikon Monarch then this is the fall back scope and it will serve you well. They make the mil dot just like you want. PLEASE do not throw money away on BSA ! Good Luck
I have a BSA on one of my Swifts. It has the target turrets. It keeps its zero and it tracks very good when using the turrets. This is the only BSA scope I have other than a red dot. It is not a Leupold but I have no complaints with it.
Well, the first two letters are accurate. I care not to guess what the "A" stands for...
If you want a good scope for less than $200, and you want the mil-dot reticle, Swift is the only way to go. I have two of them, and I'd rate them near VX-II quality. Near, not quite equal, but near.
A number of people have had problems with the BSA scopes, either the + turned sidways to make a X or the lens fell out. You might conside the Mueller line, they seem to be pretty good and tho some folks have had problems Mueller replaced the scope real quick so, great customer service.
What about the BSA Platinum Line. I have heard some decent things about that line. Are they any better than the others? I had a BSA on my MZ and it didn't last the season out it was the cheapest one a 4x fixed.....
IMO - The 6-24x40 Bushnel Banner Mil Dot would be a better price range choice. The mil calibrations on these work well for varmints.
For a little more the Nikon Buckmaster mil dot and Bushnel mil dot(can't remember....may be "Hunter or trophy ?"......"fully multi coated"......Bushnels "Buckmaster" equal) would be nice but they both only go to 14 power.
The above are second focal plane, mid mil calibration which equals= very good for varmints.
Beware of mil dot reticles calibrated at highest power setting ........equals = poor for varmints.
My BSa 6-24x50 WAS on my .22-.243 for about 20 shots then it started to zoom itself on every shot and I had a hard time getting it zoomed back out so in the trash it went! $80 wasted. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif
