Do you guys and gals have any experience with a BSA 6-24x44 Platinum Target Riflescope with a Mildot reticle? Are the optics clear?

I plan on getting a rifle soon(204 or 223) and I want a less expensive scope to go on it until I make more money to buy a leupold which is going to take a few years because of my car.

Do you know anyother good scopes that are under $200? I was looking at Mueller scopes but the power is kind of strong. I kind of want the scope power to start at 3-6.
Mueller Optics

Edit: This gun is going to be used for gophers and coyotes. Coyotes rarely hang over 100 yards and thats why 8.5 power is too strong.

Thanks Alot!

Whiskers,

Never owned that perticular model, But...

Some yrs back. I "had" one BSA in 32 power in a "Target Dot". Clear sharp glass. It was mounted on a .223 AR & a 22-250 bolt rig. After roughly one yr each. The Adjustible Objective ring, wouldn't stay focused, after a few rds shot.

Perhaps, my luck of the draw.

the burris full two 3-9x40 is a way better scope than the bsa.very clear scope.you can get them on ebay alot of the time for less than 150.i have one on my rem 17 hmr.

Go to TheOpticZone.com and take a look at their prices. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

To save a bit of money for right now, think of something in the 3-9x40 class. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

In that power, the Bushnell Legend or the Nikon Prostaff series are very good choices for optics on a budget. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

me!

hello, maybe go for a little less power & better quality. in the $200 area there are lots of options..mostly in the 3x9 range...there was a leupold rifleman 4x12 in the classifieds recently for $190.00 better glass in a lower power will serve you much better than lesser glass in a higher power range...

Mine works fine on my 10/22. Seems to have good transmission in all types of light and weather conditions. I have have had the scope about a year with no complaints as regards clarity, tracking, reliability, shift.

Best regards,
chalmitch

Do a quick search on BSA scopes, You'll find all the opinion you want to know... or don't want to know. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Been Screwed Again. Look at buying a decent scope used, but dont buy a bsa. I would honestly rather own 1 good piece of glass and have to move it between rifles than to have a dozen rifles and subpar optics. Just my humble 2 cents.

my wifes stepbrother has a BSA contender 6-24 and it is not clear on 20 power and up.I am useing a tasco 6-24x42 and i relly like it.It is mildot and i relly like it.It is clear throughout the power ranges and have never had any trouble out of them.I have one on my 22-250,and one on a 243 win.i did have one on a 300 win mag but i sold the gun.I could shoot shell caseings at 100 yards.I shot over 200 rounds through that gun and no trouble from the scope. They are tasco tatical varmint scopes.I dont know where you can get them. One of thease guys might know. One of my friends owns a gunshop, and he gets them for me for 75.00.If you cant find them anywhere let me know and i will have him order you one and ill send it to you as long as you will pay the shipping on it.Thease are the best scopes i have found for the money.

I talked to my bro. He has a Tasco on his 223 and loves it.

Fuzz, is this the scope your talking about? Tasco Scope

Here is another Tasco that I fancy quite a bit. Another Tasco Scope

I never even thought about Tasco Scopes before. Pretty darn inexpensive! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I put one of these BSA's on my Ruger 220 Swift. The glass is clear and I have no problems at all with it holding zero. It has the target turrets on it and tracks the same everytime.

the first choice is the one i have,6-24x42.Thease scopes work relly well for me.They also have a lifetime warrenty.Bushnell owns the Tasco company now.

I liked mine so much I donated it.......the guy probably still thinks he got scrxwed. Looking thru that thing was like looking thru a tube filled with water.

For the price you looking at there are much better scopes out there. Try looking at a simmons or a Tasco. Simmons quality as gone way up since they were taken over by mead insturments. Mead maked telescopes and microscopes. I have used a mead Microsocpe and they are some of the best out there. Unless you get to the big name German ones that are 500 times the price. For a good low budget scope try a tasco or Simmons or a low end leupold rifleman.

I have two BSA scopes one is a 36x one is a 4-16x42mm which is on my 22lr shoots ok but my 22 can out shoot the scope any day.

Had one, it broke. Received replacement, it broke. Both were on a heavy .22-250 Rem varmint rifle. Got an 8-32x replacement from BSA. It hasn't broke, but the adjustments are sloppy...sometimes you'll feel the clicks, sometimes you won't.
Buy a better scope.

Spend a little more money on a scope with a better reputation, you won't regret it. I went through my cheap scope phase and can say I'm glad it's over.
