BSA Sweet 17

I recently purchased a BSA Sweet 17 for my .17 HMR. I have had trouble sighting it in. I am using the .17 g bullets but the gun just wont zero in. Has anyone else had this problem or heard of it?

Yes. I made the mistake of buying one of those a couple of years ago. Just would not hold a zero worth a flip. I bet I tried zeroing that gun 5 times before I gave up. Took that scope off and traded it for lunch (I got the better deal) to a co-worker. I have a Bushnell 3200 on my .17 Hummer now and all is well.

Remember- BSA dont stand for Best Scope Available. I do not wish to hurt your feelings but I think any good gun deserves good glass.

I have the newest version of the sweet 17 and love it. i have no problems sighting it in at 100 then adjusting the turret to 200 and hitting clay pigeons with it.

The Sweet 17 isn't generally listed with "high end" scopes. The Pride Fowler rimfire BDC scopes are substantially better, although substantially more expensive.

One of the more popular "decent" less expensive rimfire scopes is the Mueller APV. Although it doesn't have a BDC, it does have higher quality glass and construction overall.

Rustydust that sounds just like my problem I guess ill just send it back and get a new one and see if it works.

Markley I dont know if I have the newer one or not. I have used a friends that worked well and it was sweet.

Thanks for the replies guys

Sorry for your troubles, and not to hurt your feelings but it's been said BSA stands for been screwed again... Hope you get it worked out

Sometimes it's not the scope but the mounting holes aren't straight. I have a 6x-24x BSA on my Rem. 7400 and it was off to the right a litle, so I put the Burris Signature rings with the plastic inserts. I used the offset inserts and got it zeroed no problem. Still holding zero and adjusts back to zero after 400 rds.

I like the Burris rings because they hold the scope secure and don't leave ring marks.

Has anyone else had this problem or heard of it? If you can return it and get a refund you will be much farther ahead .I will second the Mueller APV for a long range rimfire scope . We have a few in my circle of friends who shoot a lot of rimfires . The Mueller is a lot of scope for under $115.00 . I tried the Sweet 17 and sent it back to the vendor and got a refund minus return shipping . I knew better from the start but had to test the waters . Mine now wears a Mueller APV . Perfect for an HMR . The BSA was foggy midway up in settings .
