buckshot on deer

does anyone use buckshot on deer?? im pretty sure its illegal in missouri, but does it work well? seems kinda sketchy.... anyone?

In my experience, its a little sketchy. Better have a slug loaded behind it to put the finishing touches on a deer. Although, I have heard of deer being taken with buckshot here in MA, I wont use it. Slugs only for me. Check your local laws of course...

i used 000 buck on a wild hog in texas last year and flattened it at 45 yards. i used carlson's full choke tube.

i have shot many deer with buck shot.its awesome in its range.most of my shots where 30-40 yards.pattern master has a awesome choke for buck shot also.

cool, whats the best choke tube for it?? the tightest thing u can get? and whats the max range on deer?

with the patternmaster i think you would be safe out to fifty yards.

Couple of guys i work with will only use buckshot. I am on the other side and wont use it at all. I love my slugs. They do get there deer every year and so do i. But they can only shoot effectivly out to 60 yards and i can shoot out to 200 yards. I usually drop all of my deer and they usually have to track them. But we end up with the same result. We get our deer.

I have killed just about every thing with buckshot at one time or another. in its effective range it is a brutal load.
