Bughole barrels with bugnut (Remage)

Remage250AI

About a week ago I ordered a Brux 26" 22-250AI barrel from Greg at SPR. I was rolling through the net looking for a Remage barrel replace a shot out barrel. Knowing I wanted to to the install myself. Checked out Northland Shooters Supply but their wait time is crazy, 10-16 week wait !!! I didnt want to wait that long so I kept looking. Checked out Ragged Hole and again such a long wait 8-14 weeks out. Thats when I found Greg at SPR. He's a one man team that does 99.9% of his orders. Anyways, I ordered a Brux 26" 22-250AI long throat to throw those heavier bullets. Going on a Remington 700. Anybody else have his Bugnut system? I'd like to see them. How well do they shoot ? Thanks guys....

Ive been on this site for several years now. But I lost my last login so I made a new one. I have heard nothing but good about Bughole barrels so thats what made me come back here. A lot of good guys running good barrels with a lot of knowledge too. Thanks !!

I have SS regular barrel nut, and a Pac Nor barrel nut on a couple of Remingtons. These barrels are top drawer barrels and they shoot tiny groups. I was leary of using barrel nuts for many years till a friend gave me a savage single shot 22/250, long action, in a laminated stock that shot tiny, tiny groups.

Then tried a 22/250 AI, then a 223, then a 223 AI, then a 22/243 AI-14 twist(60g Sierra at 4000-23.5" barrel) all with barrel nuts on non trued 700 actions that shoot tiny groups.

Brux is my favorite barrel
Then Krieger, Broughton 5C, Hart, Shilen select match, X-Caliber in no particular order.

There is still a stigma about how a barrel nut may not be as accurate as a barrel with a shoulder, but it is going to take a machine rest in an underground tunnel to prove it to me.

Thanks for the replay Acklyman, I too do not believe that the barrel nut reduces accuracy!! Its all BS in my eyes as Savage has used it for years and A LOT of Savages have won several matches over the years. I've got a 22-243 with a Shilen match tube also thats mated to a Mauser K98. Lots of fun...I didnt want the everyday Savage Barrel nut so thats why I bought the Brux Bughole Remage with the more traditional "Nut" look. Its different then the everyday Savage barrel nut. I think I'll enjoy it.

http://www.bugholes.com. Lefty SRH. Here you go. They're not like the everyday Savage barrel nut. Different for sure then what everyone else uses from Northland Shooters Supply. I will have my barrel by the first of December and I dont have to wait 10-16 weeks

from Northland Shooters Supply is the only reason for the bughole barrel.

I don’t have any experience with this particular barrel source or brand but it would pretty hard to convince me that savage bolt guns with a barrel nut were not accurate or that incorporating the system to other adaptable rifles was not capable of fine accuracy.

I recently swapped barrels on a flat back stainless left hand short action Savage. I decided to try a stainless sporter small shank in 22-250. This barrel was taken off from an Axis. I don’t know if Savage grades their barrels according to the price range of the rifle they are being installed upon but if they do I would suspect that an Axis would not receive a “top tier” tube.

Anyway I get this combination on paper with some factory Winchester’s and then begin working up a handload. Within 12 rounds I have a three shot group @ .350” and the final for the session of three @ .230” at 100 yds. This final group is 1 gr. under book max so it is no slouch!

VIVA barrel nuts!

Three 44's, Greg at Bughole is a one man team with help from his wife and young son. Looks as he does stellar work too. Its cool that he does all this himself mostly instead of thirty people that have twenty different jobs to do in two buildings to finsh one barrel job. If he pulls through with the deadline he says I will skip Northland Shooters Supply and buy another barrel from him in the near future!!!! I payed a little extra for for this Brux VS NSS for basically the same barrel but wont have to wait four months to get my barrel. I actually called NSS and was told that fhey dont have the barrel instock that it would have to be ordered from Criterion then shipped to NSS with a markup then shipped to me for more then NSS was advertising it as. Why would I do that when I can get what I want in four weeks versus sixteen weeks ?
