building a AR-15

Do AR's have a heavy barrel option similar to some Varmint rifle barrels? Im not looking for a heavy rig,and am not picking off Varmints at 500 yds. Just a good 250 yd .223 for Coyotes and Bobcats.

AR's can come with BULL barrels, which can be incredibly heavy. There really isn't a heavier-than-normal barrel like on a bolt action. The conventional wisdom is that the HBar-type barrels (which is what you are asking about) are no better than standard-weight barrels.

I would say you don't need anything more than a standard 16"-20" barrel. Right now I'm hunting with my 14.5" barreled M4 with an M2 aimpoint. My shots are all pretty close also due to the terrain I usually hunt.

I generally agree. The problem is that most commercial match-grade barrels are bull barrels. If you want an accurate standard-weight barrel off the shelf, your only options is basically a National Match style.

I always get a kick out of guys saying those very expensive barrels can shoot groups under an inch, my kit gun from J&T Dist, a bull barrel varmint consistently shoots under an inch, and when I do my job, a lot better than that. This entire upper including the barrel cost less than those expensive barrels.

I like the look of a collapsable stock. ( cant spell ).
Is this a feel thing? Does it have anything to do with the overall accuracy of the weapon? Will I be giving anything up by going with this rather than a tradational stock?
Price should be about the same?
thanks for all the help.

Are M&A parts Inc.a good seller?

I became interested in predator hunting, and led into this AR thing. The more I read the more I see a stigma associated with these black rifles. Don't want the weapon to overtake the hunting aspect.
Reminds me a little of my Bass fishing pals, who let the bass boat become more important than the fishing.
One guy told me if he didn't have a boat that would run 70+ MPH,he would quit fishing. I use my boat as a means to get to the fish.
