Bull-Pup Stock for a 10/22 Ruger – any ideas?

I have recently got the itch to own a 10/22 Ruger that sits in a Bull-Pup style stock. I want to add a 20” bull barrel for more accuracy and still have a gun with an overall short length. I searched the web for any prefab designs, but am unimpressed with anything that is readily available and/or affordable. So I have uncover an excuse for me to take on another project…I’m excited.

Has anyone out there ever taken on a similar project – built a bull-pup stock from scratch? I am planning on building the lower portion out of laminate, and making an upper out of fiberglass or cast a polymer piece (the hard part). The trigger mechanism is still being worked out in me head. If anyone has any tips or past project photos, please share. I will be sure to post my end product once it is complete or I have something to show in progress (need to put some money away first).

Evil Lurker....nice call on that rim fire site. Really gave me some new ideas, and strengthened others. Even though I still want to make mine out of primarily laminated wood (both for looks and the fact I do not have a machine shop).

Anyone else have some tips and/or leads on Bull-Pup stocks made of wood?
