bullet options for deer 300 bk

looks to me like the options are few and far between. 110 ts tx black tip seems to be the gold standard.
has anyone tried the 110 hornady gmx, seems to have similar construction to the barnes.
any others I should look at? seems like the 110 Varmageddon and 110 v-max might not exit at ar 10.5" pistol speeds.
anyone know what the bottom velocity for expansion is for the gmx.

I can't say anything about the GMX, but I would definitely avoid the V-Max and the Varmageddons for deer-sized game. If you jump up to 125 grains, you'll have better options, like the Nosler BT Hunter, Hornady SST Interlock, and the Sierra Pro-Hunter. Those are gonna give you much better weight retention and penetration, while the V-Max and Varmageddons can fragment, leaving bits of lead and copper in the meat or worse - poor penetration and a potentially lost animal.

now the question is will those bullets work at the reduced 10.5" pistol velocities? do you have a risk of to little expansion? seems it would definitely shorten up effective distance.
110 barnes black tip will expand down to 1300 fps.

Have you done any load testing to see what kinda velocities you're getting with 110's? The 300BLK was designed around the 8.5" barrel, and with fast-burning pistol powders, you shouldn't be losing that much velocity. I haven't shot a deer with 300BLK personally, but I have heard stories about the Nosler BT and the Hornady SST doing very well on deer. I've also heard the 110 Black tip is hard to beat, if the price doesn't bother you. Again, that's all anecdotal evidence, so take it for what its worth!

I had very good luck the with Sierra 110gr HP Varminter. Good expansion at BO velocities. Killed 2 deer and a sack of pigs with it.

Contrary to the posts above, both my Dad and I have had excellent results with the Nosler 110gn Varmageddon on deer, coyotes and feral dogs. They are varmint bullet and have typical varmint bullet expansion/eruption at typical 30 cal speeds (.308 etc), but when slowed down to the 300blk velocities, in our experience, have acted more like a traditional cup&core bullet with fine penetration and good wound channel. These were run from a 16" RAR and showed normally to shoot around 1/2-3/4moa from hand loads.

Well, when all you hit is lungs and guts, theres not much slowing it down.

Don't feel too bad. Dad hit one in the chest with my 223ai last night, knocked the deer flat....then he jumped up and ran off. Gave up around 10. Headed back this morning to resume the search. He hit it low, square in the sternum and heard a "crack" instead of the "whop" on impact...

I shoot the 130gr barnes out of my 300 bo for deer. My 6yr old shot his first deer on Saturday with it. The Brute as he called him was 60 yards and he ran about 30 and dropped. I shoot barnes out of all my deer rifles and muzzleloader. They are Death to deer.
