bullet puller problems

Maybe im nuts and forgot how to do it....but mt bullet puller stopped working. Its a hammer style,and the whole shell pops outta the holder and jams into the bottom of the puller. The 3 picece metal holder with the rubberband isnt holdig the shell at all. I thought i might of had it backwards but that wasnt it. Do these tools wear out?
 
Just do yourself a favor, and get a Hornady collet puller. WAY better than any hammer style puller. I've been down that road, and I'm not going there again.

If it's an rcbs (cause I don't know what the others are like)have the oval part of the holder facing up. I usually use the collet puller but at imes when I only have 1 or 2 I'll use the hammer.
 
The little metal petals on my ancient rcbs hammer puller broke off so its used for rimmed stuff on occasion, it collects dust now, collet pullers are the shizzz.

Otherwise, the shell holder off your press works well, even better me thinks, than the collet deal in the hammers.

Seems like RWHart used to make something like that, years ago.

This..and tighten it down good; good smack on solid surface like concrete floor.
