Bullet Runout

+1 on a great thread for us novice reloaders. Like the OP `r I would like to uprade to a Co-Ax press also.
What type or brand of tools do you guys recommend for checking bullet run-out? I have been looking at the Hornady tool, however I`m curious as to how the case head / rim locates? After a few firings my brass is a little distorted in this area (case head/rim) and think this might give a erroneous reading.
 
You will be surprised how little "wobble" you can detect with your eyes when you roll one across a mirror looking for nonconcentric assembly. Concentrate on the bullet tip when inspecting for runout and look for max/min separation of the tip image to the real bullet tip. I picked up a mirror at Wally World for $3 and it works fine. Just make sure the mirror is on a flat surface.
 
I screw in teh seater die unit i feel it hit the shoulder, back it out one turn, then take a bushing or a stack of washers and put it on top of the shell holder. I then pull the arm slowly until the bushing or washers press firmly up on the die, I hold it keeping pressure on the die and then i tighten the lock ring. Produces very little runout.
 
ackleyman I went round and round with the forster and redding dies. Everything I read was a toss up between those two. I think I will buy a set of Redding dies for the ar 15.
