Bullet weight?

I got a new rifle a couple weeks ago that' has a 20'' SS barrel with 1:8 twist rate. It recommends what I consider very heavy bullet weights.

What weights have everyone else shot? I've got to start somewhere but ammo in different weights is not readily available right now. It isnt like i can buy everything on the shelf and try it all - even though thats what i like to do. Anyone had any luck with 50gr in a 1:8? Lighter?

You need to shoot the gun with what you would like to shoot and see how it performs. You may be very surprised. 50 grains to 70 plus seem to work just fine in most.

Iv shot 40-60gr in a 1/8 twist with good accuracy.

I thought the 60 grain and possibly the 55 would group well. Had no idea about anything else.

I was surprised how well they shot. 40gr v max over benchmark was the load. Varget performed well to but was a a slower load.

My wife's AR is a 1 in 8 twist and shoots 40's over benchmark with superb accuracy!!!

for yotes try the 65gr sierra they work well and are accurate.

Several different brands of ammo in different weights have shown up at the local shops in the last few days. I've been buying some of them to see what the new rifle "likes"

I even bought some Hornady 55gr V-max yesterday - at a good price too($19.99)
