Burris 4.5-14?

I am looking at the Burris Fullfield II 4.5X-14X-42mm for my 6.5 Grendel AR. Any pros or cons about the scope? I would like to be able to shoot out to 500 with it.

I have a Vortex 6-24 now but would like to put that on a 204 that I am planning on getting.

Thanks

I have one. Clear and bright. Mine is the Ballistic Plex reticle which I have come to dislike. Probably fine for coyote, not as much for more precise groundhog shooting. Also not target turrets.

I have had them a long time and really love them. I have just recently started getting into the E1 reticles and really like them more than my Ballistic plex. Might want to give them a try. It takes a bit getting used too but I really like them. HAPPY HUNTING

I have SEVEN Burris Fullfield 4.5 x 14's with the illuminated Ballistic Plex. Obviously, I love them. They are the best scope for the money I've ever found. I cried when they discontinued the illuminated reticle model.

Pros-great clarity, work well in low light ("light gathering"), ballistic plex great for hurried shots, DURABLE, accurate.

Cons-they don't make the illuminated reticle model any more, can't use flip up scope covers on ocular lens due to design of zoom feature (the whole end turns, not a knob)-they may have changed this on the newer models.

Don't know about the E1 reticle, but I'm happy with the Ballistic Plex.

Kiz Jr. has the 3x9 Fullfield 2 on his gun. It fell out of the Hummer onto the cement

at the gas station one day and it didn't even knock it off.

That being said, somehow the airline was able to knock it off 6" to the left after our last flight. That takes hard work.

Edit-
savage man, the answer to your question is no. They are a second focal plane scope, so the reticle is only calibrated at the highest mag.

If you liked the standard Fullfield II, you'll love the E1. All the primary things that peopled asked for in changes was delivered in this one!

+1

As much as I like the Eliminator I didn't care much for the E1. The field curvature at the edges was too much for me. It may be because my rifle stock is too short or whatever else but as I settle in to shoot, I move my eye WRT to the scope, and as I do this, the edges of the FOV just move around noticeably. Mind you, the center stays put so there is no change in the POI but I found the "flopping horizon" to be an irritation. Just my impression. IIRC, this is most pronounced at low magnification; at high magnification you are zoomed in in the center part of the FOV, so the edge curvature is less noticeable.
Eliminator has is too but not nearly as much. Leupold VX-III 6-20 does not have this annoyance at all, and Vortex 6.5-24 has it to a much, much smaller degree.
