Burris FFII 3-9x40 vs Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 vs mueller apv 4.5-14x40

I just bought a CZ 527 American in 204 ruger and am trying to decide which scope to put on it. It will be mostly used as a walking predator rifle but will be used on the occasional prairie dog town. Of the three which do you guys think is a better choice? I don't hunt in real dense areas, mostly over cornfields and pastures. Any feedback is appreciated

With the accuracy of the .204 and with you shooting in open areas and fields, I would suggest the Nikon 4.5-14.. It is way better glass than the mueller in my opinion and although the burris is good glass, I think you will benefit from the higher power magnification of the nikon being as accurate as the .204 is. Also the CZ's are sweet shooters as well. I would say with the right load combo your rifle will shoot some tiny groups. The higher magnification of the Nikon will help you put the rounds exactly where you want. Especially on the farther shots in the open fields.

I must ask why you are looking at Burris in 3-9 and the other two in 4.5-14? For your considered price range you could get a Burris FFII in 4.5-14x42 with the ballistic plex reticle, which would be my recommendation. While I have never shot a Mueller, I have looked through a few and their glass is good for the price but not on the same level as the Burris or Nikon. Another consideration if you are looking to save a few bucks is Pentax... Glass is right up there with the best and still a little less $$. I know you can get a Gameseeker 30 in 4-16x40 on SWFA.com right now for less than $200... Then you would have all the magnification you need for the .204, better light transmitted thru the 30mm tube and still have a few bucks for ammo!

just my 2 pennies worth.

i've got the 4.5-14 nikon bmaster with mildots... dont know if you are interested in those, but as far as the scope goes, i can't find anything wrong with it for a fairly lower priced scope. i have it mounted on my 270 wsm and its a very effective setup for deer/elk. i actually like the mildot reticle of theirs over the bdc. Their regular plex is just fine too, a little heavier at the actual crosshair than the mildot one is. i have a burris fullfield E1 3-9 with the E1 reticle... i also like that choice.

The model that is the exact same scope as the Burris Fullfield II in 14.5-14x is I think the Pentax Whitetail Hunter, it lists at over $500 but has an internet availability through FOX Optics on Ebay of around $229, it is a heck of a scope and has a great ballistic style reticle, it has very clear clean high contrast glass. Pentax makes the Fullfield II's for Burris.

You can call FOX direct and order at an Ebay price if you have a problem with Paypal as I won't use it or Ebay. I don't know if it would make a difference to say Keith referred you, I've bought thousands of dollars worth of scopes from them and have gotten some rock bottom prices on Nikons, Elite 4200's, and Pentax scopes.

Just my 3 cents worth,

Just so there isn't any confusion I want to point one thing out. This statement is absolutely 100% FALSE.

This one is 99% true. I say 99% only because we can't always guarantee it will be fast but we will always fix or replace your scope if you have a problem. You will usually get your scope back within a couple of weeks.

I can vouch for that.
