Burris or Bushnell?

I am going to get a new scope for my AR and I was talked out of getting a leupy so it is between a burris ffII or a busnell 3200 elite, what do you guys think is the better scope between the two?

My old hunting partner likes the Burris, but lots of folks are saying the elites are excellent scopes. Have you had a chance to look thru both side by side at a gun store? Sometimes that clinches which seems better.

I own two of each and i think the Burris is a little better in low light, but the rainguard is a definite plus. (it works)

I've always put burris on my guns with the exception of a leopold on a 22-250. I love burris but a good friend recently put a bushnel elite on his 308. We were out hunting in the moon light and we held them up together. I thought his actually looked a lot clearer then my signature series did. So I was pretty impressed with it. I would actually consider buying one and I have always been a die hard burris supporter.

Not saying you ever going to need their customer service, but Bushnell's customer service is horrible. I owned a pair of their binos that I had to send in for repair work...due to me dropping them. I didn't see them for 4 months. Ended up calling them, got the run around on where they were at on fixing them after 2 months of having them. Ended up paying $40 for new seals in it and shipping there and back.

Burris's customer service is awesome!!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif Sent in a FullField II that had moister on the inside...first one out of 8 scope from burris that I ever had a problem with...had it back in two weeks. No cost but shipping it to them.

I have always been a Burris man, as of late I am looking at the Nikons, Bushnell 4200, 3200 in that price range. I'll tell ya the Nikon Monarch is one nice scope. The only thing I have looked thru that was better (but just alittle) is the Ziess Conquest which was incredible, but cost more. I would look at a comparable Monarch side by side with the others before you decide. The model down is goo too. Burris customer service can be hit and miss just like anywhere. How about it took them over 3 weeks to get my scope back to me, and I live less than 300 miles from the place. They complained about fixing it too.

I don't own a Burris but have looked thru several at the range, I like them. I do have 2 Bushnell Elite 3200 10X's on .308's and love them, really clear and the rain guard is awesome, the tracking always returns to zero. I don't think you can go wrong with either. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

However, IMO Furhunter's comments on the Nikon are SPOT ON! A buddy of mine that's a surveyor and KNOWS optics told me once that bang for buck, you'll never find better quality glass (I don't know if it's safe to assume the same folks are producing lenses for their scopes as their surveying equip?????).

I have several of both... and the ones on my guns that get used the most... are all burris..... they are clear, and dead on... hold zero, and with the ballistic plex are very easy to use when shooting long range

I love my burris scopes, but I just bought a bushnell 3200 elite 10x40 with target knobs to put on my new Tikka varmint stainless, looks about the same to me as far as clarity, but I haven't tried them side by side in the dark...come to think of it, I go do that right now.

I compared a Burris 6.5x20x50 FullField II with a Bushnell Elite 4200 4x16x50 in exact settings at 200 yds looking into a thick fencerow just before dark. The Bushnell was much better at light pickup power and the Rainguard is a great feature too.

I own a couple of both and I prefer Bushnell 3200 Elites over Burris FFII. To my eyes the quality of glass is comparable but Bushnell Elite 3200 have better windage and elevation adjustments, offer more adjustment range in comparable power models and have the rainguard coatings.

Bushnell Elites are made in Japan and Burris FFII is made/assembled in the Philippines.

The Nikon Monarch UCC scopes are real nice and I have a couple of them also, but I think the older Japanese made scopes were higher quality than the current ones made in the Philippines.

I like the 3200 better as well. If it were me, I think that I would spend a few extra bucks and get the 4200 even. Maybe they are not quite as clear as my one and only Zeiss, but you would really REALLY have to look close to tell which one is better. Next to Leupolds, I have more Burris glass than any other, but those 3200 and 4200 Bushnell scopes just cant be beat for the buck.

I had a very bad experience with Burris CS. Sold the two I had and won't buy or recomend one .
That may have been just one incident, but with me you only get one shot when it comes to CS.
Talks cheap, but how a company treats you after the sale is how I judge them.

I don't own any Bushnells but a couple of my friends do, and they like them alot. They've both used them for years and beat the snot out of them without any problems.

That rainguard is a nice feature as well.

Burris all the way.....I own several. I used to work at a large gun shop, and there really is no comparsion. Of course I may be a little bias. I won a nation wide contest Burris put on, they offerred me a fully guided turkey hunt or my choice of any binos AND scope AND spotting scope....hmmm wonder what i picked....The only thing I dont like about burris is the eye piece (magnification)completely moves...Kinda sucks with scope covers on....My vote is on burris. Sig select or Black Diamond series!!!
