Burris or Leupold spotting scope?

I would never consider a wind river if you want a clear scope. I bought one in June past, sent it back because it didnt show .22 holes clearly at 100 yds..Leupold sent a replacement identical to the first.Wouldnt even make a good anchor.P.O.S. in my humble opinion. Its in the very back of the closet now.Its a Wind River Sequoia with angled eyepiece.Id sell it for 200 plus shipping and handling if your interested.

Varmintslayer, You might look on snipercountry.com under reviews then go to optics section. They did a review/test of about 5 different spotting scopes ranging from $200-$500 range & it is very informative. Dean-o

Let me start off by saying that I dont own either one of those scopes. The one thing that makes me buy Leupold, besides their warranty, is the fact that they are made here in the USA. However their windriver products are not, they are contracted out to some company in China I belive. That right their is a major factor for me. I know on the warrant page it says that they fully cover all golden ring products...windriver has no goldenring. They do make a spotting scope though that is a true Leupold product...goldenring and all. This is why I will go with Steiner or someone like that for binoc's instead of Luepold. When it comes to scopes its Leupold all the way but I wont support the windriver side of them. Just my .02 . Good luck and let us know what you get and how you like it.

I've got a Leupold 30x60 spotting scope I'll sell for $300. I'm letting it go to fund buying a Leica ($1300). It's a great spotter and in excellent condition

If you're interested let me know.

Varmintslayer,

My experience with the Windriver Sequoia mirrors upers. It is the worst of the spotters in that price range. I bought one without trying it out first (I figured it would be the best for the price because it was imported by Leupold and they wouldn't put their name on a piece of junk). It was crap. I thought it was defective, sent it back for replacement, and the second one was exactly the same. Steer clear of that one.

Huh? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

So you do or do not buy Leupold products based on the 'made in the USA' sticker. Where are Steiner binos made? Not trying to be a smarta$$, I just don't follow your logic.

'Made in USA', FWIW, rarely means what most people think it means.

Well I went over to Sniper Country and checked it out and out of those spotting scopes he tested he chose the Bushnell Spacemaster overall. I had thought of the Bushnell before, maybe I should give it a try.

To bad no one here knows how good or bad the Burris LAndMark is.

Thanks

Well fellas' I don't know what to tell you. I've been anti Leopould for a few years because of the fact that they import their glass and tubes from japland, however, I do own a sequoia, and it ain't bad at at all. It in no way compares to a $400 spotter, which honestly is in the reach of most of us. The only thing that I was looking for when I bought this thing was to look at 100-200 yd targets. If I was serious about a good spotter for the money, I'd buy a Burris signature.
Screw the Europeans!!!!!!!!!! 338

Sorry I guess the way I said that didnt make sense. What I mean is I buy Leupold rifle scopes but if I am looking for a pair of binocs I wont look at windriver because they are not made here and are not made by Leupold and are not coverd under the same warranty as the golden ring products( so I have read). That is why I then choose Steiner or somthing else. Sorry about the confusion on all this.
