I figured I would post a different kind of post. Kind of a review or at least a thumbs up for anyone thinking about a new scope on a budget.
I seen a post a couple of days ago somewhere about Amazon Prime having them at $199 and almost grabbed another but didnt. I just dont need another scope but it made me think about mine.
Its a great scope. I always considered an LPVO a hunting scope for in the woods or at least shorter ranges/home defense, but I can ring steel out to 400 yards pretty easily. I had mine on a 223/556 for a couple years but I recently moved it to a 6.8 SPC shorty. Getting back behind it made me realize again how good it is.
I dont have any really expensive LPVOs but I do have Leupold and Vortex LPVOs and the Burris which is cheaper is the only one I have that I can shoot MOA consistently with fairly easy. There's just something about the glass and reticle that works. I used to think I needed more magnification which does help with darker scopes and subpar glass but its not really needed. Clear glass is definitely the most important thing.
It does have a slight fish eye at 1x but its very easy to get behind and looks great at 6x. I feel like the glass is every bit as bright and clear as my Viper PST. The PST has a bigger eye box and more of a flat picture but its 2-3x the money of the RT6.
Burris also has a pretty good warranty. A while back I lost the throw lever off my RT6. Im not sure what happened to it. It just wasnt there anymore
. I emailed Burris and they sent another no questions ask. I definitely recommend it. All in all I like it better than most other $300 scopes I have.
