Burris Scopes

I have a Burris B-Plex 3-9 Fullfield on one .223 and a Leupold VX III 2.5-8 on another .223. Without question the Leupold is a better scope. Much clearer. Just my nickels worth.

Greg, isnt there about 200 dollars difference in those? I would expect the Leupy to be better for the difference in money.

Actually I think the only burris not made in the USA is the 4.5x14 model. All others according to what I have found out are USA made. I have to burris fullfields and they are the brightest and clearest scopes I have ever used. The range marks are awesome and work perfectly on my 7mm RUM. Burris Rocks!!

Burris FF and a Leupy VXIII is hardly a good comparison.

One scope can be had on sale for around .......$180

The other is a $400 scope almost anywhere

Did you really expect them to look the same ?

thats like "My US Optics is noticably sharper than my BSA"

That was my thought exactly skb! a better comparison is a VX-1 to a Full Field, since Burris barely comes close even with the signature to the VX-III, and those can still be had for $350. Only Burris' Black Diamond should be compared to anything Leupy makes in the VX-III and VX-L series.

Well, I sold almost all of my leupolds for Burris scopes in Signature series. I think the Burris is clearer, and brighter. Leupold is a name,,....a name that most folks follow with no research at their disposal. Burris has the same warranty, with IMHO better glass.

My MK IV leupolds were sold to make way for Nightforce NXS's,..another great decision on my part. Don't buy a name,...buy a product.

Burris signature beats VX III hands down, for less money. NXS beats the MK IV hands down,..for only a little more money. The Leupy boys better get on the stick, or keep hoping people blindly choose a name from the past. Their quality has a long way to go to get next to some of their competition that has underpriced them and provided a coparable or better product.

Leupold puts out a fine product. So does Burris. Ford vs. Chevy. Except for the FFIIs, then its Ford vs. whatever car is made in the Phillipines. Think I'll stick with Fords and Chevys.

Yep, buying a quality scope is like buying a set of quality speakers, when you try to compare top brands you need to let other peoples opinions go and buy what "sounds" I mean "looks" best in your eyes.

Just be sure you're comparing similar products from each competitors line. You can't compare the best speakers Bose sells to an inferior Kenwood product anymore than you can compare the best Leupold has to offer versus a budget Burris scope.

Speakers, scopes, whatever, all have a target audience. Even if each company being considered offers at least a few excellent products in their line in order to be fair you have to compare apples to apples even if it's across brands.

Most of you all know but not all of the FFII's are imports. But I belive all the parts to be the same. Checked out the full line at the local BassPro here. When I compare scopes I use a price range and then go to features. 350$ is not my idea of a 'budget scope', 100$ is and yes you get what you pay for. For the money I think the FFII's are hard to beat. Btw Burris has a 42m sunshade available. If I had the funds a Signature Series .. nice.

I just put a new Burris 3x9x40 on a Ruger 22 Hornet. I haven't used it hunting yet but it won't be long.

Seems like a very nice scope to me.

I ordered a Burris FFII early this past spring before I realized they were made in the Phillipines. When I received it and saw the sticker on it, I promptly sent it back for a refund! I then purchased another Leupold, which is what I should have done in the first place! Weak moment I guess! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif
