Burris Scopes?

What are peoples thoughts on Burris scopes? Pros and cons. I have a couple buddies that have them and love them. I have always used Leupold but willing to try out a Burris if it is a quality scope.

The signature and black diamond lines are hard to beat. I have 1 Leupold left and about 5 signatures and 3 black diamonds. When I tested a VX III 6x20 against a 6x24 signature and 6x24 black diamond at twightlight the leupy went dark first. On the range it had the worst resolution to my eyes of the three.

Just my opinion.

I have an old Signature 6x-24x-44mm and it is awesome. My next varmint scope will probably be the 8x-32x Signature Select with mildot for an upcoming varmint rifle project. The clarity and accuracy are top notch. My scope actually was done as a partial trade and it was used when I got it, it sits on my AR right now. I have shot through Leoupold scopes and I can't tell the difference except for price.

I love the old Mini-Burris series that is now the Short-Mag series. As a photographer, I've always seen the need for quality optics. When I started buying Burris scopes in the 80's, I felt that Burris quality was every bit as good as Leupold for less money. The money difference may be smaller now. I've got 3 4x mini-burris', a 2-7x mini and a 6x mini. They're very rugged, hold the zero, have terrific flexibility in eye relief and eye alignment. They're bright and have never let me down. That's the same experience of other first-hand users that I personally know, although I've read other opinions on various websites.

Optically, now that everyone in the world designs their lenses by computer it gets more difficult to visually see which optics are best. It can be proven with special resolution testing, but to the naked eye its very subjective. Inside a store under flourescent lighting you can't trust what you see.

The best way to find out if you're going to like it before spending the money is to find someone who has one and try it out at dawn or dusk. Second best is to step out the shop door at dusk to look through the scope. You need a co-operative shop owner.:)

Third best way is to gather opinions here and go with the one that makes sense to you.

I say you can't really go to far wrong with either Burris or Leupold, but then I only own Burris. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I bought my first burris scope 6 years ago, still just as good as when I bought it. Clear, holds POA, and it gets used every week. its been used in 110 heat as well as -0 cold, rain and snow, never fogged or malfunctioned, its repeatable, Oh and did I mention the ballistic plex reticle.
I love my Burris's, not saying they are better than everything else, but they have never failed me once.

I really like the signature models and cant find anybody that has a major problem with Burris. I am thinking about ordering the 6X-24x ballistic mildot. Thanks again for everyones input!!!

I like both of my Burris. One is old 2x7 Fulfield and the other is a Blackdiamond 4x16x50 balistic mil-dot. A good scope for the money. Just my thoughts.

I have a Fullfield II in 4.5-14X42 and it is awesome. It has the ballistic plex reticle, and it came with a compact 12-24X50 spotting scope.

I have one that is not in use. It was the last of the USA models. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM and we'll talk before I end up posting it for sale.........

I have a Fullfield II and think that it is every bit as good as my Nikon Monarch's and for a whole lot less money. The only negative that I have is the focus adjustment gets spun very easily getting in and out of vehicles and out of the gun cabinet.

When the PosiLock is off are you still able to shoot? Like say your scope has turrets. Will it effect the scope to not have it locked?

I have Fullfield II 3-9x40 ballistic plex, I like it as much or more then my Leupolds. I got it just to change and try something differen great scope. I also have a Mueller on my 204 that I like very nice for the money. Good Luck Chris,

I own 3, and will own another by Christmas. That should speak for itself. Good Luck, I don't think that you will be disapointed.

I have a euro diamond With IR .
scope stays on the IR works as designed.
Scope seems clear.Never owned a leupy so can't compare.
I have owned monarchs and the burris seems a better scope.
I don't think i have as discerning an eye in these matters.
excellent low light use .
