Burris Speed Bead

I just put one on an 870 earlier this year for night hunting. Had to do a few mods to the base to get correct alignment and cheek weld, but overall it seems like a quality piece. I used a fastfire III in a speedbead mount BTW. It sure is nice to just throw it up, place the bead, and pull the trigger. I would definitely go with a fastfire III with the correct mount, rather than the actual speedbead I.e fastfire II. The fastfire III has major improvements over the older models. I would not recommend one for wing shooting, only predators.

This is very good reliable advice.

I bought a Fastfire III and the Speed Bead mount for my predator shotgun. Ain't put it on yet. Still undecided if I ever will.

Guess one of these days I'll have to at least mount it up and give it a test drive. He11, it may come right back off. Or not.

What are the advantages of the FF III over the Speed Bead?

The "speed bead" is simply a package combo that includes a FastFire II 4moa dot, plus a mount that fits between the stock and receiver. No drilling or tapping required.

The FastFire III has upgraded windage and elevation adjustments, a better dimming button, a top battery cover that can be removed without removing the sight from the mount, and your choice of 3moa or 8moa red dot.

Here is my FastFire III, awesome for predators especially at night:

Remington 870 Express Tactical. I got it because I wanted a rail for optics (also has ghost ring backup sights) and it's threaded for choke tubes, cheaper to buy it that way then have it 'smithed.

Then I Duracoated it matte black myself because I hunt a lot in the dew, fog, and rain during the winter. It's a very handy shotgun and it throws good predator patterns, better than the other shotgun in that pic.

I got the 3moa dot, because I prefer a more precise aiming point given the 1x magnification and less distraction of a big dot.

FFIII on my tky and predator shotgun. Love it. Fast and simple without adding alot of weight to the gun.

SuperSeal,

Was an Ex when we went Turkey hunting. That evening she shot a decent long beard @ 47yds.

Tim, 3moa.
